On our way to the Rock of Cashel we encountered an "Open" sign along the road while passing Farney Castle and we dropped in to have a look.
Driving down the narrow entryway, we found a not so small irish castle in a very charming surrounding. Entering the castle through a side entrance we found a very nicely decorated shop selling porcelain and knitware. The lady managing the shop gave us a short tour describing the products and how they are made. Both, the knitware and the porcellain are designed by the master of the house, Cyrill Cullen and handcrafted locally.
After finding out that we never had been around this place before she offered us a tour around the castle. We gladly took that offer and took the tour which was done by Cyrill Cullen himself. The experience was amazing, he is such a charming and entertaining host and guide. Full of stories about the castle, the families that owned it over the time and of his own extraordinary life experience. We rarely had such a warm and personal tour and i cant thank him enough for this heartwarming experience.
So, if you ever happen to see that "Open" sign while passing Farney Castle drop in, if you just pass by you might miss out on a...
Read moreWe had such a lovely time visiting this unique Castle, and for the opportunity to met Paul. We had no issue getting into the grounds with our 4x4 motorhome. We were welcomed with such generous hospitality, that we really didn't...

The knitwear is very impressive Cyril Cullen is a master. The Lady who showed us around the shop was an absolute delight she is married to the owner which I believe is Cyril's brother and he designs the lovely pottery. A...
