I can’t say enough great things about the Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery tour. It was simply awesome. We were driving from Galway to Dublin and found it on the map and checked their website to see if there were any tours. It said that nothing was available. We called and they told us they had room on the tour which was 90 minutes.

Emma was our guide and her tram driving partner was Jim. We started with a fantastic Irish coffee and some history and education on the making of great Irish whiskey. That was followed by a tour of the distillation area. It was a maintenance window for the plant so it was relatively quiet, which Emma said made it a lot more pleasant. She also shared that it operates 24/7 and is almost fully automated.

Our next stop was an Aging Warehouse, which was breathtaking, not only because of the whiskey fumes, but the scale and number of barrels stacked. They have a number of these warehouses on site and are building more!!! One thing was that you had to leave your phone, camera, other electronics in the tram with Jim because a spark could blow us all up.

We wound our way through the stacks of barrels to a cuddle to taste some aging whiskey, which was like drinking fire.

From there, we got back on the tram and drove by the bottling plant and the other pipes, stacks, and valves. It’s pretty industrial.

We ended in the tasting room with three types of whiskey to try and each one was better than the next. For drivers like me, they had little bottles to decant our shots into so we could try them when we got where we were going. This was a very nice touch.

We finished up in the gift shop and we all had the opportunity to blend our own whiskey, and they keep the recipe on hand in the event you liked it so much you wanted to blend another bottle.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it, regardless of your...

We had such a good time on our tour with Emma as our tour guide and Jim as our mini-tour bus driver! Our favorite tour so far - it's a bit on the pricier side at 45 euro, but it felt worth it for the experience.

We got to start off the tour with an Irish coffee and overview of the whisky making process and the history of Tullamore D.E.W. Emma did a great job of keeping it fun/informative while keeping it moving and answering questions along the way.

We then got to walk the still house floor, which was super cool! It was a maintenance day when we went, but it was interesting to see where and how the whisky gets distilled.

Next, the snug was probably my favorite experience. The snug was hidden behind a wall of whisky barrels in the warehouse, and the "dog" that Emma used to draw whisky out of one of the barrels for a cask tasting was a cool touch. You can't take pictures in here for safety reasons (the alcohol in the air is definitely strong!), but it was definitely a cool space.

Finally, the tasting of the original, rum cask, and the 12 year was great, too. The decor and the vibe in the tasting room feels almost like you're in a cozy lab. There were droppers with water to try the whisky with, after trying them neat. For those driving, they also had little bottles and funnels to pour part of the tasters into, so they could still finish enjoying the experience later.

As we returned to the gift shop, we got a little demo of how the "Be the Blender" blend-your-own bottle works.

Overall, I definitely recommend this tour. The people working here are super sweet and seem to enjoy what they do. Emma at the counter (a different Emma than the one who guided us on our tour) was kind enough to give us some great food recommendations in...

Let's start by saying this was one of the most amazing and in depth distillery tours I have ever been on!!

We were driving to Galway and noticed Tullamore Dew was on the way. Online there were no tours available, but we took a chance and decided to stop in anyway. Luckily enough, they had 2 spots available on the 3pm tour. We were super excited and went for it! They only allow 12 people on each tour so it's very intimate and more personal. Their welcome center is very nice with lots of cool gifts, which is where we waited util the tour started.

The tour started with our tour guide, Ita, making authentic Irish coffee. So cool!!! Then we did a tour of the facility and we got in a gift card to go to the maturation warehouse, where no phone or cameras are allowed. We did a cask draw to taste the whiskey right from the barrel!! So freaking cool!!! At the end of the tour we did a tasting of 4 different blends of the Tullamore DEW!

Our guide, Ita, was so personable, funny, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even the other staff were SO nice. I loved this tour because it included everything you could want, for 1 price without needing to add extras. This was by far the best distillery tour I've gone on and I'll always remember it. At the end of the tour, I opted to blend my own bottle which was something new I haven't seen. Most distillery's let you bottle your own if you want, but here I go to actually pick which flavors I liked and watched the whiskey blend into the bottle to take...
