This is such an amazing location. The gate was locked but there s a tiny wall that you can scoot over. When I arrived the grass was long and there wasn't a sign of any livestock in the field. You can walk around the ruins and one or two rooms were surprisingly intact. Obviously its dangerous to walk around the ruins so be very very careful. Its incredible how much of the structure is still standing. The castle is 12th Century with additional later construction. With the Holy Well and Bullaun stone situated so close by Clonmore is a great detour to make a stop in.

It maybe a 12th Century fortress, but for our two, they had it conquered in no time. Only nettle stings sustained. Vaulted room "discovered " at the end of a dark passageway, nooks and crannies checked but best of all was the "Dungeon". Great place to visit but seems to be used as a cattle shed. Thankfully nobody home today. We loved it. Such a pity its not maintained with proper public access.

MUST STOP TO SEE!!!! This was very cool. One of the commenters said the pictures don’t do it justice - that is true. It is great to explore and the kids had fun imagining what it would have been like in the 1300’s. Not clear how to get in so we had to climb a rock pile on the outside or climb over the front fence. The site says open 24 hours. Enjoy the exploration and park right out front.

It's definitely worth a visit. It must have been quite impressive back in it's day, as judging by the ruins it had a huge courtyard. A little plaque depicting the history would be a good addition. I didn't venture in as there was no direct access, but judging by other posts people were more adventurous and daring than me.

This castle is amazing. It's closed off, but definitely accessible to the adventurous and wreckless. I would dare as it looks very unstable. But this building is truly magnificent. Really throws you back into ancient ireland. A stunning castle, forgotten and lost, neglected and broken.

A great castle ruin and the fact you can access the interior make it even better. Parking is on the main road. The interior is spooky yet charming at the same time, loads to explore and it was big in its heyday. I loved my visit, you will too, cheers
