Located on the stunning Mizen Peninsula is where visitors will find the Mizen Head Signal Station which has been open to the public since it was completed in 1910. The Mizen Vision Visitor Centre in the Keeper's House and the Engine Room, the famous Suspension Bridge, the 99 Steps and the views up the South and West Coasts combined with the exhilaration and excitement of the wild Atlantic waves and ancient tortured rocks guarantee a unique and authentic experience. There are spectacular views on the Bridge and at the end of the peninsula and the houses have been equipped with an audio-visual room, a map and archive room; the Keeper's kitchen and bedroom have been retained and there is a bird and sea watch room. Imagination takes over in the Mizen environment cave, the Fastnet Room, the Underwater Room and the Storm Room....

We've been here several times over the years but just visited the centre and not gone across to the station so we did this time. The visitor centre is very good as is the adjoining cafe. We went early to avoid the crowds as the narrow road has been busy in the past. Be aware the car park is used as an overnight stop for camper vans and motor homes and there must've been nigh on 20 there when we arrived. Its worth paying to go over to the station but if you are scared of heights this is not the place for you! Lots of different viewing areas to utilise and when it's clear the Fastnet Rock is easily seen. It was sunny and we also saw lizards basking. There are obviously various seabirds to be spotted too. It does get very windy so you also need to be aware of that. Overall definitely worth a visit if...

The highlight of the bus tour from Cronins Bus was Mizen Head. It started with a visitors centre about Fastnet Rock and Mizen Head Signal Tower. Then I ventured outside as it was dry by this time. My breath was taken away - literally. I didn’t know what to expect from my visit, but it exceeded it all. Nature at its best. There is a charge to visit - €7.50, but it's worth it. Even in this windy weather we had today, it was atmospheric to see the waves crashing and feel the wind through each cell of my body. There are many pathways, some I didn't do as they were very steep, but I had seen enough. Lovely cafe and gift shop too. A must see and would recommend. Not buggy or wheelchair friendly however. You would need some level of mobility to walk up and down to the signal tower. There are 99...

Located at Ireland's most southwesterly point one finds what can only be described as spectacular breath talking costal views, a footbridge and lighthouse signal station. Photographs honestly don't do it justice, it has to be experienced first hand. Steps that bring you right down to almost sea level to catch a glimpse of the wildlife that inhabits the area from the magnificent Puffin or playful seals in the water below. The cafe at the visitors station has a large menu to satisfy all tastes from the Vegtable soup served with homemade brown bread which is a must to the modern day panini with assorted fillings. May I add this attraction is also dog friendly which I found only adds one more reason why I feel it's on a par with the gorgeous Cliffs of Moher.

I whizzed through, it is really good, quite in depth, well worth spending more than 2 hours here on a wet day. The exhibits are rich, there's a lovely slow paced documentary playing, worth stopping to watch. Fantastic displays. If you're a radio buff, spend worthwhile time here, if you enjoy history, communications, sea life and plate tectonics, this place is really rewarding. A few bits of chats with different staff, a good gang. From watching what was happening at the tables as I passed, the food delivery was a bit slow, I didn't try any food. Ice creams and toy trucks kept kids happy Jules Thomas is one of the people involved in the exhibition, beautiful work done by everyone
