This place is very beautiful, quiet and shady. Good for prayer and contemplation. I often go to this place. there are two beautiful churches. the ancient bottom near the Emmaus spring mentioned in the Bible. The church above is more modern with a unique fresco without a face. After that, you can shop at shops that provide mafu, olive oil and various Holyland products that you can't find anywhere else. The fathers there is friendly. A place full of heavenly atmosphere as if it were in the first century.

A beautiful mixed community of Benedictine monks and nuns that sing the 10:30am Sunday Eucharist. A glorious experience. There is also a beautiful reflection garden dedicated to the memory of the late Cardinal Archbishop of Paris, Jean-Marie Lustiger, who was a regular visitor. Although the church dates to the crusades, the community has been present only since the 1970s.

A pleasant, interesting crusader Church. Felt like an oasis of Western Europe. No info on site about its history unfortunately. Worth a visit if already in the area, but not worth a detour unless you're really into late Romanesque early Gothic churches.

Beautiful place! As soon as you pass the gate, it is easy to forget about your day and troubles. The whole area is beautifuly kept and the nuns that were working outside were very kind. Sometimes a single genuine smile can make your day!

The church is amazing. There are must see frescos on the walls. The acoustics is is great, I can only imagine what it sounds like during mass.

The shop is also a must. It contains many hand made things that are made on the premises, from ceramics to food and drinks. We bought a bottle of Tapuz-cello which is like a lemoncello made out of oranges and a jar of lemon jam. The tapuz-cello is really good! Very recommended! (They also have lemoncello but it is a bit bitter and not as good). The jam is also good.

Enjoy this place and take your time while in it. Let yourself disconnect from the world...

A crusader church from 1141 from the Hospitaller Knights build over a well which you can see in the crypt, the lower floor. For many many years, read centuries, the church was used as a barn which did not do much good to the fresco's which are painted all over the church. The church, monastery, is run by Benedict monks who usually dress in black habits. In Abu Gosh they dress in white. Next to the entrance there is an inscription that the 10th legion of the Romans was here. In the shop you buy ceramics and liquor made in...
