Mifraz HaShemesh Beach — Attraction in Eilat

The North beach of Eilat is located in the northen tip of the Gulf of Aqaba which is an almost enclosed part of the Red sea. This spot is the northen most coral reef in the world! Altough healty corals are scarse in this location, it has an amazing and healthy patches of sea grass beds. Snorkeling is availble in this spot throughot the year, water tempertures are normaly between 22 celsius in the winter to 30 in the summer. Not for begginer snorkelers, If you are a begginer I whould recomened to visit this spot with a buddy who already snorkeled in the spot and knows the entrances.

Visibility is usualy good, better in the morning and could reach a little more than 10 Meters!

as for fauna, this area is cosidered a habitat for rays, mostly stingrays and the spotted eagle rays, There are many invertabrate and fish local to sandy bottoms and sea grass beds. the depth gradient is quiete mild, sea grass beds are usualy find from 2 meters to 20 meters, there are also a few wrecks, coral nursheries and artificial reefs, the deepest one in the Sun boat which is sitting at a maximum depth of ~18 meters. There is a few bouys at 300 meters from shore designating areas in which small power boats could reach (snorkeling further than 300 meters should be conducted with a signal bouy) .

Caution: some anglers fish at this spot so watch out from fishing lines and speed boats, also in days with strong north winds, it is better not to go to far south because the way back to shore will be dificult.

Dont forget to drink a lot of water...
