The TEL DAN NATURE RESERVE, for me was one of the most beautiful of "GOD'S GIFT TO MANKIND". In the description of the map given to you about, the Dan Natural Reserve is written: ""Entering the Tel Dan Reserve is like stepping into a Wonderland: scores of bubling Brooks feed into a running river, tall treetops reach for the sky, the ground is always shaded abd refreshingly cool, even at noon on a hit Summer's day"". When I saw that bubling river, ( see the video I made), I went nuts , screaming and amazed for that magnificent creation of God, the water is clear in one part and after few inches become milk color. Wow, and wow. Besides the Dan river, you have others beautiful things to see around the park, like the ANCIENT DAN. PROF. AVRAHAM BIRAN, began to excavate Tel DAN in 1966, and he discovered impressive findings included section of imposing walks and gates, as well as a ritual site that dates to the time of dramatic events recounted in the BIBLE.. The place as is usually they have an information Booth, where you can buy souvenirs, soft drinks, bottled water, and snacks. AROUND THE PARK YOU CAN FIND MANY PLACES WHERE YOU CAN HELP YOURSELF WITH WATER SYSTEM FOR YOU TO REFRESH WITH COLD WATER FOR "FREE".!! ALSO YOU HAVE FREE BATHROOMS FOR LADIES AND GENTLEMAN. IT'S WORTH...
Read moreTel Dan – the remains of a 5000 year old ancient city. The city reached its height during the Canaanite and Israelite periods. In Canaanite times, it was called Laish or Leshem. The city is mentioned in the Bible, in particular in connection with the capture of the city by the tribe of Dan, which migrated here from its original land in the Judean plains, and changed its name to Dan after the forefather of the tribe. Dan was a major reference point in the unified kingdom – “from Dan to Beersheba”. After the kingdom was divided Jeroboam, son of Nabat, made Dan one of the two centers of worship in the Kingdom of Israel, at which golden calves were set up. The city decreased in importance with the development of the nearby city of Panias (Banias) Following the War of Independence, a large military post was set up on the tel in order to protect Kibbutz Dan and the Dan Springs. This post was active until 1967, and it is still possible to see the remains of communication trenches and bunkers. A Syrian tractor was also brought here, used by the Syrians to divert the sources of the Jordan River...
Read moreUpdate: Been there again this October and again I really enjoyed it. Ideal as a weekend family activity. Always green, always streaming, perfect for a Family trip One of the best Nature Reserve in Israel, no matter when, even in the dry Summer of Israel, but of course the best is in Winter, after the strong rains of January. Then it is awesome with all the streaming all around, everywhere, at every corner and behind every tree, the sight is amazing. We had plenty of precipitations in Israel this winter, and therefore the currents were exceptional as well. As it is managed by the National Authority I'd strongly recommend to buy the Matmon Card of the Israel Nature and Park Authority which will give you free unlimited access to you and your family all year long, to all the Nature Reserves and National Parks (everywhere in Israel) You should get back your investment in 4 visits or less and then you'll be able to come back as many times along the year. Can't say enough to recommend this card as it'll allow you a priceless freedom to visiting any Park or Nature...
