TL;DR Nice diverse route, nice for kids.
We got there on a Saturday at noon in the spring when it's not too hot. There is a large parking lot next to the entrance which is a large area of eucalyptus trees where you can have a picnic. There are a few picnic tables but you should bring a mat. There are no toilets.
The trail begins in the woods and turns to the left to go under the bridge and meet with the stream. Then it goes along the stream for some time in a wooded area that part of it has a paved trail. There is an area where they added some big stones in the stream so you can cross it or just sit and put your legs in the water.
Down the road there is what they call the turtle island. Maybe it's an island in the winter but when I was there it was just a small hill. no water around it and no turtles - there are some on the banks of the stream.
At some point the trail leaves the stream and gets out of the woods and into a sandy area with some dunes the kids can run and play on. The trail continues for some time in it where you can see the stream vegetation but not the stream and it leads you to a large dune.
When you climb it you reach the sea on the other sideIt used to be a nice sea shore with nothing in it but they stuck an ugly construction area of something just there and destroyed the view. There is still a large sea shore there - no lifeguard so don't go swimming but you can play in the shallow water, and no shade so bring something with you if you plan to stay there. You need to go back the same way you came to get back to the car.
We took it easy and spent 20 min on the sea and it took us 2.5- 3 hours for the round trip.
I didn't see any drinking water taps there so bring...
Read moreLovely piece of nature. The water in Nahal Sorek doesn't look very clean but it's nice never the less. You can do a fun hike from the reserve all the way to the sea, even with the kids. Just be mindful it's very sandy which might make the walk hard for the young ones. It's a pitty that this pretty place does not have any clean water source so you can't even wash your hands if needed. Also there's no toilet and only a handful of...
Read moreA bit off the beaten path for most tourists, but this is a hidden gem just outside Tel Aviv. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of public transit to the area, but it is still a beautiful park. The picnic area is sandy but the tables are nice and well maintained. The hike itself is fairly easy and most of it is accessible to strollers or wheelchairs. Nice spot for a day or half day trip...
