Eilat Ornithological Park — Attraction in Hevel Eilot Regional Council

A bit of an "outside Eilat" experience. The place is old style and simple. No interactive, no light and sound, just plain nature. Small shabby entrance, light easy trail around the lake and seeing the birds. Printed posters on each bird and some shaks to hide oneself from the sun. Good for early mor ling and afternoons. Check its opening hours (think 8-16:00). Sometimes there are lots of birds and activities and sometime no birds... and this is the charm of the place. I'd highly recomend d to combine it with seeing the flamingos at the salt pools, (~10min drive northward from this place. Go on route 90, turn right at the 3 brown signs, just a short bit after the northern tax checkpoint on route 90. It's a semi dirt road, passable for all cars. After about 100m from where you turned from #90 you turn left on a dirt road - then look for the turn right-eastward (jordan). Not many options so... then another 3min drive and you are there. If lucky all the flamingo will...

I was disappointed from the tour guide. The kids and the family left the tour in the middle feeling humiliated. (details below)

The park itself is amazing, and the receptionist was super nice and tried to help before and after the incident.

לקחנו סיור ועזבנו אותו בגלל המדריך בהפסקה הראשונה בהרגשת השפלה. הפארק עצמו מדהים, ומנהלת החנות הייתה מעל ומעבר.

We were paired with another group. They waited more than 25 minutes for the other group. They didn't wait 4 minutes for us. They answered all questions of the other group immediately, and when I asked question, the guide said: "not now" The guide offered to pet the birds, and completely ignored my child who stood and came to touch the bird, even though members of the other group yelled to him there is a child who wants to pet the bird.

Again, we waited 17 minutes for the other group to arrive, and they told us to take a short tour because the kids were patientless. They called to tell me it will start soon, and couldn't wait 4 minutes for us.

My question's answer was part of the explanations later. My kids pet a bird, but were not allowed to set it free (we really felt like one group is favored and we are not welcome) And they offered us to join another tour, Who would join another tour feeling humiliated and being in the sun for 1.5 hours?

צורפנו לקבוצה נוספת, וקיבלנו הרגשה של לקוחות סוג ב, כשנותנים לנו לראות איך מתייחסים ללקוחות סוג א לידינו. בקיצור: נתנו לנו לשבת ולחכות 17 דקות לאחת שההדרכה הייתה אמורה להתחיל כי הקבוצה השניה לא הגיע. לאחר מכן אמרו לנו להסתובב כי זה יקח עוד זמן. בסוף הם הגיעו והתקשרו אלינו להודיע שנחזור. כשהגענו לאחר 4 דקות ההדרכה כבר התחילה. נראה שלנו לא שווה לחכות 4 דקות.

המדריך נתן לנו יחס מגעיל ומשפיל במיוחד, כששאלתי שאלה נאמר "לא עכשיו" וההסבר המשיך. לעומת זאת אנשים מהקבוצה השניה התפרצו ושאלו שאלות לפני ואחרי וקיבלו תשובה באופן מיידי.

השיא היה שהבת שלי, בת 6, הגיעה ללטף ציפור וקיבלה התעלמות מוחלטת כאילו היא בלתי נראית. המדריך והבחורה המבוגרת שעמדו מולה התעלמו ממנה לא רק כשאמא שלה פנתה אל המדריך, אלא גם כשחברי הקבוצה שניה צעקו אל המדריך שיש ילדה שמעוניינת ללטף את הציפור.

לאחר מכן עזבנו ולא נשארנו לחלק העיקרי. מי היה נשאר...

very nice place to experience. the care of the operators there to birds is heart warming. lots of places to sit and relax against the view. You defenitely should visit on weekdays, probably early morning since other kids visiting there can ruin your experience by mailing noise and other distractions. don't forget to bring your luck so you'll have great sightseeings with birds that will "cooperate" with your visit 🙂.
