The place claims itself to be one of the largest parks in the world. Located 20 mins from Eilat it gives you opportunity to feel yourself in small scales of Nevada or Arizona. Here you have several attractive locations to attend. Like spiral hill, archs, mushroom and a half, iconic mushroom, archs, Solomon pillars, Hathor temple, canyon of faces, pink and white canyons, tabernacle and lake. You can travel by car, by feet or by bicycle once inside the park. Though it has opening hours to enter, it functions 24/7 and you can camp here at night and exit anytime. The ticket is valid for 3 days. All the attractions will take you a whole day to visit. Visiting tabernacle is additionally priced. Camping is also additional priced. You can come here with or without camp. There's toilet and shower. Here you can rent bicycles at the entrance or near the lake (which is preferable). You can come with your own bicycle. When you've done with the popular attractions you can complete many hiking trails. Near the lake you'll find restaurant and camping area, souvenir shop. Here you receive bottle for filling it with various colors of sand. Of course you can fill it in many creative ways. Change angle, mix colors etc. After filling you seal it with clay. At the entrance you can watch the introductory movie. At night the most popular attractions (like mushroom and Solomon pillars) are illuminated. It's possible to organize events in the park. Best to visit in fall, winter or spring.

Quick tips and thoughts based on our experiences in January: - wear sunscreen and/or a hat - if you have a whole day for this, devote the time - choose firm shoes (there are a few -optional- ladders and challenging places to climb) but otherwise it's a very easy-to-hike place - you can drive, ride a bike, or walk (go with latter to get the most out of it) - it must be brutal in the summer (sometimes even 45 Celsius) - they accepted our European Youth Cards, didn't need ISIC, so probably all student cards work Details: We arrived by bus from Eilat, and the first car (the manager of the park) kindly picked us and other tourists up, without even putting our thumb out to hitchhike. If you are on foot, I'd recommend hitchhiking though, as he put it "It's better to walk inside the Park, not TO the Park." The information center is modern, staff was nice. You can rent bikes (return by 15:30), and can choose from several trails, which are well marked, can't miss them if you follow the provided brochure/map -available in many languages-. Toilets can be found near the main sites (wheelchair accessible). All in all, we loved the place, the sights are unique, have special vibes, and the views are definitely worthy of your time. :)

This is our second visit to timna. This time we stayed in the rotem camp station inside timna park. In the timna camping website , they didn't provide any information on the camp station. When we arrived there it was just the open space in the wooden shed without tents. The incharge at the camping site had the audacity to explain us "what is meant by camping tent"🤷♂️ despite the fact It was their mistake for not providing the description of the rotem camping station. The other types of tents were occupied (white colored tents with all the facilities including fridge, microwave, and air conditioner). So, we drove back to eilat to buy camping tents on shabbat. It was freezing in the night. We felt the cost is too much 85 nis/head/night, just for the open space🙄 Additionally, Cost of a bed is 15 nis. They had common toilet/bathroom facilities with hot water. If your tent is not nearby, then you have to walk like 3 -4 minutes to reach the toilet🙄. They had place for BBQ and we ordered for camping firewood for 40 nis. Apart from the stay, timna is always beautiful. We enjoyed most of the time by admiring the monumental structures. Night time was so much fun with our group enjoying the BBQ and the calmness. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit, a awesome location for ASTRO photographers because of sky being so clean. We had some good pictures.

Important: This place is huge, the ticket is for 3 days because doing it all in 1 day is very hard. it contains many places that are very far away from one another so you drive from one place to the other by car. You can also do it on bicycle if you wish (I saw bicycles for rent including electric ones). If you are really brave you can do a lot of hiking here. Be very prepared to be protected against the sun - sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, long sleeve clothes and tons of water. This place is what you dream about when you think about a desert. You can easily forget you are in israel and imagine you are on mars or some other deserted planet of your liking. We went only to 2 points so we didn't actually see much but our breath was definitely taken away by this alien place. The photos don't really show it, you must come to feel and see.

Description
The Timna Valley is located in southern Israel in the southwestern Arava/Arabah, approximately 30 kilometres north of the Gulf of Aqaba and the city of Eilat. The area is rich in copper ore and has been mined since the 5th millennium BCE. During early antiquity, the area would have been part of the Kingdom of Edom.
