On the bright side, this beach has plenty of free parking and the lake is very nice (although you are not allowed to swim in it because there is no lifeguard in the lake and just last week a baby drowned there). The lake is 100 meters from the sea. It is a sweet water lake from rains that accuulate from the Zikim stream during winter. There is a nice restaurant with artifical grass arround it. On the down side, the sea is vert very dirty. I think the dirt is drifting north from the Gaza strip. The sea is full of nylon bags and all kinds of food wrappings. There are no change rooms, only toilets which are discugsting during the peak in July August. There are only 4 showers, outside and you have to stand in line most of the time to get to them. It could be a little more accessible for people who are disabled but the current situation isn't bad either There are showers and toilets (could be a little cleaner), a small vendor and running water to shower and wash your feet on your way out There are camping grounds near the parking lot itself which allow cars up to RVs to park for a small fee pet night. No electricity though

Read more30+ years ago I was a volunteer in Kibbutz Zikim. All our free time was spent on Zikim beach so this trip was an extremely emotional visit for me. It was wonderful to see the amenities on the beach but most of all the diversity of the people there was really amazing given the proximity to Gaza. I hope it wont be so long before...
