Well, I drive up here from my home in Neve Oranim, Zefat, along Rehov Leshem and up the new road which the go-ahead new Mayor of Zefat, Shuki Ohana has had cut into the hillside so one can get up to Birya in less than 10 minutes. It's exhilarating to find oneself out of suburbia and inside a forest. Up to park the car near the old British half a jeep, rusted with age and standing as a mute memorial to a vanquished foe. Stand and breathe in the fresh air of a fine winter's morning and contemplate the genuinely stupendous panorama of Galilee hills beneath the Birya escarpment. It is marvellous.
