Caves Gurfa — Attraction in Alia

I loved this out of the way place but do not go without a guide it is locked and very difficult to understand the curious history. Unassuming at first, but fascinating inside, especially if you are not with a big group.

Un luogo che lascia sbalorditi!!!

La sala principale delle Grotte della Gurfa è colossale: circa 10 metri di diametro per 15 di altezza, interamente scavata a mano in arenaria rossa. Un’impresa che trasmette la volontà di un popolo antico, capace di uno sforzo costruttivo intergenerazionale. Risalente all’Età del Bronzo (2500–1600 a.C.), questo sito è contemporaneo alle piramidi egizie e testimonia una civiltà siciliana ancora tutta da scoprire.

La funzione originaria resta avvolta nel mistero: luogo di culto? Tomba monumentale? Osservatorio? La monumentalità e la precisione della camera a tholos fanno pensare a qualcosa di profondamente importante. È urgente che vengano destinati fondi seri per ricerche archeologiche estese: il sito merita attenzione internazionale.

Il personale è accogliente, generoso e appassionato, ma l’organizzazione dell’area archeologica è purtroppo assente. Nonostante ciò, la visita è un’esperienza potente e memorabile. Un luogo che interroga il passato e...
