Argillae is a very special female owned winery in Orvieto. Giulia di Cosimo is an stalwart innovator and deeply committed to both the earth and her community. From her Prima di Amphore Orvieto wine fermented and aged in amphora crafted from the very same clay that the vines grow in in her vineyards, to her Signorelli label Orvieto DOC wine which honors the great Italian Renaissance painter (the wine gives back a portion of it's profits to support the preservation of the frescos of the Duomo of Orvieto), and more...Giulia also serves as the vice president of the Orvieto wine board, and can often be found helping her husband in his restaurant Da Carlo in the town center of Orvieto. In short...visit, eat, drink and discover Argillae wines wherever you can (by the way, in the USA you can go into your favorite wine shop and ask them to bring the wines in...the US importer is Vias!).

Let me tell you about this fantastic tour I took in Orvieto! It combined delicious winery tastings with a fascinating exploration of the city center. We started by visiting the winery. It was incredible to see a traditional setup, our expert guide was the producers, who were knowledgeable about the wines and the region's history. The best part? Tasting their wines paired with delicious local foods – pure heaven! After the winery visit, we explored the charming city center of Orvieto. The Duomo, a Gothic masterpiece, left me speechless. We also visited Civita di Bagnoregio, a picture-perfect town that seemed frozen in time. If you're looking for a way to experience the best of Orvieto, this winery tasting and city center tour is the way to go. It was informative, delicious, and fabulous! Cin Cin.

Argillae, just a short drive from Orvieto, provided a wonderful experience for wines of their region. My group of six friends visited from the U.S. and Giulia and her team were very responsive to my questions while making the reservation. Sabrina, who was absolutely wonderful, provided an informative tour, and guided us through tasting their excellent wines and olive oil. We enjoyed these accompanied by meats and cheeses and then an amazing lunch. If you are planning to be in the area, visiting Argillae is a treat. If you also want to see Orvieto, plan for at least two days (or 1.5) to fit in this tour + the beautiful sites.

We could not have asked for more wonderful and authentic Umbrian experience than Wine tasting and lunch at Argillae SRL. The delightful Giulia firstly took us on a tour of the winery explaining passionately the delicate relationship between the soil and the vines and the wineries commitment to both the environment and traditional wine making methods in the Umbrian region. We then enjoyed a fabulous wine pairing lunch where we tasted a selection of their wines including the beautiful sparkling Centopercento, a rose wine and ending with the sensational Primo D’Anfora. All perfectly balanced with an assortment of dishes showcasing Umbria’s and Orvieto best olive oil, breads, cured meats, cheeses and the best lasagna we have had in Italy. You must put this winery tour and tasting lunch on your itinerary, one of the best we have done anywhere...
