—a review by an American, for other Americans—

SUMMARY So worth it, but dang. Most stunning beach I’ve personally ever seen (done a decent amount of traveling) and totally worth the trek. Also probably the most challenging workout of my life (and i run daily). If you’re 1. American and 2. not a serious hiker, then I am willing to bet your mind will be blown at the terrain, elevation, and general difficulty/ lack of clearly defined path of this entire situation - it’s so wild. Nothing about it is “safe” or easy by US standards. But if you come prepared (see below), are in decent shape, and are motivated enough to see this beach (see pics, it’s insanely beautiful), you’ll be okay. On the hike itself, you’ll probably be passed by a variety of Italians/Europeans ranging from 5 to 70 yrs old that look like they’re taking a leisurely stroll and that will raise so many cultural questions in your mind - but should also help the time pass faster.

ALSO WORTH NOTING —one of the hairier drives of your life to even access the hike starting pt (again, esp if you’re American that doesn’t live on a mountain).

—If you’re dying to see this place and can’t imagine doing this hike, look into the boats (the boats can’t come all the way to shore, but you can swim into the area if your boat stops and the swim doesn’t look toooo bad relative to the hike).

—zero cell service on last ~15 min drive + atleast first half of hike, so def screenshot driving directions to AND from the parking lot before you lose service.

—buy tickets in advance via their app, heart of sardinia (not a good app tho) bc they limit number of people who can go on beach every day. Only 6 euro pp

—there is no escape route. Once you start, you either finish or turn around. It continuously gets harder. The only 2 “employees” are at the very beginning and very end.

—They say to allow ~1 hour on the way down and 1.5-2 hours on the way back; for us it was 1h45 on the way down and 1h15 on the way back. (It personally took us longer on the way down to ensure our footing - but coming back is much more physically strenuous).

—only restrooms other than nature are at the cafe in the parking lot before hike starts

—you’ll prob see some wild animals. We saw boar a few times. They didn’t bother us but apparently are semi dangerous.

WEAR/PACK —do not attempt to do this in anything less than great sneakers !!!!!!!! And athleisure/bathing suit, obviously

—backpack with sunscreen, tons of water, snacks, sunglasses, beach towel (might be used for sweat and not actual beach).

—optional but nice to have: water shoes bc the beach is rocky, a little med kit with bandaids wouldn’t be the worst idea, mobile phone charger bc this whole situations gonna take a lot longer than you think and you’ll take like a million pics. Saw a few others with hiking sticks and wouldn’t have...

Beautiful place in Sardegna! It's one of the beautiful beach in Sardegna.

Useful Informations: You will reach the place from Su Porteddu. It's a hiking path from Su Porteddu to Cala Goloritze. You must take hiking/sport shoes and sport clothes. Because it has a lot of different type of stones and the path could be neat. Please take with you a beach umbrella. The beach isn't fully with sand. Most of them are with stone - up and downs. You must do a reservation on the app Heart of Sardinia to get access to the beach, otherwise you can't. Please go there in the morning , because you can accesss the beach till 15:00.. when you arrive at 16:00 they won't let you go to the beach, because they close at 17:00! The hiking back to the parking is very hard in the sun. Is really hard.. I'm hiker and it is to hot to hike up. Please take each person 2 liter water with you!

Negative Points: You have to pay 6.00€ to walk to the beach Cala Goloritze. The path isn't clean or prepared to walk.. for 6.00 for each person they could prepare the path. You won't have a reservated place at the beach you have to find a place and it hasn't a lot! At the Beach they don't have water or a small Kiosk to buy water or something. To the restaurant Su Porteddu there is always a donkey. I don't know why a donkey is there.. it is whole day there.. in this hot wheater.. i'm feeling bad.

Good points: Very nice beach Must see Restaurant...
