I have been lucky enough to visit the Prarayer Hut Restaurant twice, the second time we were also lucky to arrive before closing time for the kitchen. I have only walked the path parallel to edge of the lake, mostly by the preference of my trip companions, however, there are multiple trails in the area and they seem challenging but really rewarding. The alpine landscape there is really enticing, as were the dishes in the hut, from a very elaborate Polenta with natural tomato sauce, cheese and mushrooms from the area to the venison in red wine sauce, to the very nice desserts including a delicious panacota with forest berries, I remain hopeful for another opportunity to...

What a magical spot. We came here by chance, intending to just stop at the dam on the other end of the lake. We saw that the refuge was open and had a wonderful, easy walk along the lakeside. It’s largely level and takes about 50 minutes or so each way. The refuge has an amazing view down the lake from the outdoor seating. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the place was spotless. We had polenta with tomato and mushroom sauce on top and it was delicious. Great value too. We didn’t stay overnight but had the impression the bar would be a cosy spot to chat away a...
