What was the true travel experience? I got a good answer during the unforgettable wine-tasting experience in Casale CE, Italy. We found not only great wines but also made a new friend. As a wine drinker, I really looked forward to visiting some wineries while we traveled in Italy in August. However, our itinerary was jam-packed and the only chance for wine tasting was the travel day between Rome to Naples. I found two wineries with good reviews and decided to drag the whole family to get off the highway and do a bit of tasting. We drove on the winding roads for about half an hour and finally got to the first place. We found all doors were closed and the winery was either someone’s house or a lie by Google Map. Disappointed, we tried our luck at the second place, Malaguti Anfora. We got into a garden with rows of grapes, olive and fig trees. Again, no door was open and nobody was seen. I thought my hope for wine tasting was gone and apologized to my family for dragging them that far off. We were very disappointed and took off. But, Mauro, the winery owner, drove his car and caught us up at the first turn. We turned around with Mauro and got into the wine production cellar with him. The story became wonderful from that moment. We tried both red and white wines and really loved them. The red was dry enough with a complete taste. The white was not chardonnay but was finished with just the right amount of acidity.

We got a case then went to lunch with Mauro at a local pizzeria. The potential disappointment of wine tasting turned into a really lovely afternoon with super wine and good companion.
