Beautiful Basilica. It has nice gardens around and the structure is beautiful. Additionally it has a very old crypt below which has beautiful old paintings on the walls from, the ti,es romans used to do pagan worship.

Entry is free and also there is a museum inside that houses some older artefacts.

Gioiello Romanico a due passi da Pescara

Bellissima Abbazia in stile romanico dell 871 dC Si trova a Castiglione a Casauria, nelle vicinanze di Torre de' Passeri in provincia di Pescara. La struttura è monumento nazionale ma una prima visita che, non richiede molto tempo evidenzia la bellezza e importanza del monumento. Ricordo sia stata danneggiata dall'ultimo terremoto e ristrutturata. Oggi è in ottima condizione, pulita e ben gestita. L'ingresso è gratuito.

Internamente sono in bella mostra il pulpito e il cero, oltre a un bellissimo altare con sarcofago. Le pareti purtroppo anche se ristrutturate, presentano la traccia di troppe e numerose asportazioni.

Esternamente la facciata è bellissima con portico a 3 fornici, colonne e capitelli ma soprattutto tanti bassorilievi e bellissimi decori, curati e di gran livello ... bello in giardino e i decori non riposizionati e visibili. Insomma un vero gioiello da non perdere ... comodo all'uscita del casello di...
