2/5 — Disappointing Experience Despite a Beautiful Setting
We visited this garden expecting a peaceful stroll, as Google indicated it was open. When we arrived in the morning, the gate was closed, so we came back later — this time it was open. What we didn’t know was that, buried at the very bottom of their website, there was a notice saying the garden was closed during a specific date range. Unfortunately, we missed that detail.
At the gate, there was a collection box with a sign saying to leave $6 per person if no staff was present, so we paid and entered. After walking through part of the garden — which was genuinely beautiful — we were approached by a woman with a visibly irritated demeanor who informed us the garden was actually closed. We left shortly after and were not offered a refund.

Read moreThe rose garden is huge and tended with much love and care, there's even an old locomotive inside, it's very romantic. There are also several peacocks and other birds roaming around, it's like a little slice of Eden. Definitely one of the places not to miss if you're visiting Arezzo. Sadly, when we visited, a recent heat wave (thank you, climate change) withered most of the roses, so I would suggest you to visit in may. We had a really pleasant time anyway, the owners were really welcoming especially Maria Cristina who took time to talk with us and show us around. In the night they had a piano concert planned, everything was perfect, just imagine being in the shade of a centenary willow, stroking their farmhouse cats and vibing to a master pianist playing Wagner, Granados and Jelly Roll Morton!
