We had a great experience at the winery tour few days ago. After a short visit of the vineyard (where I would like to spend more time to understand their approach with the vines) we proceeded with the tour inside the cellar where we’ve been explained how this family produce their amazing wines with an exceptional job. I was personally surprised finding out how long the wines are aged before release, I bit unusual in our wine tradition.
A small reality with great results. Four labels with an additional new entry(a Rosè), these are the wines exceptionally presented from Carmela during our great tasting in their rustic and well furnished reception. The testing was accompanied with well presented local products, from cheese of different styles and provenance to cured meats and bread. The love of their job is reflected in the wines and in all experience in the winery. We began with the vermentino crashing first with the wave of tropical flavours probably obtained with its late harvest, its terroir or their job in winery together. Following with their Cannonau aged in stainless tanks and refined in bottles for more than ten years we understood that we ended in the right place. It was time for the Cabernet Sauvignon when we enjoyed the endless explosion of Mediterranean herbs in our mouths well matched with cheese and sausage roasted in front of us in the fireplace. I was informed that the 2007 was an exceptional vintage and Carmela agreed to let us experience and extra orgasm after the last emotional velvety tasting of their Shiraz. It was like smelling a forgotten cigar in a dark chocolate box hidden from grandma in the spices cabinet, in the mouth was balanced and pleasant with a persistent aromas of dried black raspberries, oregano and sage.
We were surprised and a bit worried at the news of a following full tasting of five more grappas obtained from their single grape distillations. Obviously all amazing stuff.
We were warned from the beginning that the full experience would take around three hours but we couldn’t imagine to spend more than five without even realise that we were too drunk to drive away from the winery. Finally we slept in Valledoria in our campervans swearing to came back any soon.
We all thank Carmela for her passion, Maria Teresa for her exhaustive tour in the cellar and the cheese lesson of...
Read moreWe had an amazing time at Cantina Ligios this summer 2021! We had a very professional tour guide aka the daughter of the winery owner which explained us with a lot of passion the history behind the winery and every single wine. We first went through the wineyard, then proceeded through the winery where you get a detailed look on the fermentation process and the warehouse/bottling process. After that you get to finally taste these amazing wines. We had an amazing white wine called Juliola made from the Vermentino grape which is a typical local grape as well as a very good Carammare made out of Cannonau grapes. My absolute favorite was their 10 year old Carys made of Syrah grapes. Moreover they offer a very special Rosé. What makes it so special is not only the taste but also the story behind it. Our whole experience was accompanied by different (family made) local cheeses, breads, self-picked olives, tomatoes, hams, sausages and a sweet desert. How to end this amazing experience? Of course with a grapa made from the grape skins of the wineyard. All in all a 10/10 experience which I would totally recommend everyone looking for a fun, culinary or rommantic experience. The family that runs the winery is one of the most hospitable hosts that I have ever experienced before. A total must-do on your...
Read moreThis was definitely the best wine tasting experience we ever had. So heartful, loving, personal and amazing. The whole family was super friendly and the wines were amazing - especially Caramella, who led us through the evening. After a short walk through part of the vineyard and the garden we got a tour of the wine cellar. In between the tasting in front of their open stove, we got to see the amazing sunset behind the vineyard with the view of the sea. We got to taste plenty of all their wines (and grappas ;) and several of them in different ages/vintages to experience the different influences of each years weather/climate on the grapes and the taste. The wine and food paring was amazing. All the produce was from their garden and of local friends and their families farms and tasted simply amazing. From different cheeses, hams, vegetables up to the best grilled pork sausage - grilled over old grapevines. We got to know everything about the family's and vineyards history and the story and technical details of all the wines. What was the most special was the very personal experience. Totally recommend this...
