We joined a wine tasting here with four people, and it was an amazing experience. We were picked up at the beach and taken on a scenic, winding route up to the vineyard — it almost felt like a little attraction in itself, which was great fun.
Once there, we were given a tour of the beautiful vineyard, complete with interesting explanations and answers to all our questions. After the tour, we enjoyed the wine tasting. There was a nice variety of delicious wines, paired with some tasty snacks.
After about two hours, we bought a few bottles to take home and were driven back to our apartment along the same hilly route. The gentleman even drove a little further than the drop-off point so we wouldn’t have to walk too far.

Read moreWe really enjoyed the personal experience of this small family winery. The owner and family patriarch hosted us for the first half hour, and explained the hundred years of family history and local terroir.
He then turned us over to his young but knowledgeable sommelier, who hosted us at a beautiful covered outdoor table overlooking a fabulous ancient valley. We tasted five wines and a honey grappa - all paired with excellent breads, meats, cheeses, and produce.
The wines were young, because the family has only recently begun making wine there again, after a significant hiatus. We very much hope to return in a few more years and see the upcoming growth and maturity of the entire winery.

Really felt great value for money and there was lots of lovely food to accompany the wine! We were also very grateful as my husband and I got off at the wrong ferry stop (Piona), which was actually a very long walk to the meeting point.
