Cantina Canaio — Attraction in Cortona

We had a fantastic afternoon at the beautiful Cantina Canaio! The views from the property are breathtaking—the best landscape we’ve seen in the Cortona area!

Mirco and the staff were incredible hosts. Mirco’s tour was very informative and it was easy to see all the steps of the winemaking process. Not only were the wines at the tasting delicious, but the lunch they served was perfect!

Although this is a newer winery, the strong family tradition here made it more memorable than some of the more well-known and established wineries we have visited this vacation. In my opinion, the intimate, family atmosphere as the grower and the winemaker is what marks the true tradition of Tuscan winemaking! Our party of 8 was hosted by Federico for a tour of this fascinating vineyard. He gave great detail on the process and description of the vineyards white and red offerings. We were treated to an amazing lunch in the villa where we sampled red, white and vin spirito dessert wine the Merlot blend and , Syrah were our favorites. We arrived late in the afternoon without a booking and were welcomed like old friends. Despite no notice, the team quickly prepared a delicious three-course lunch paired beautifully with their own wines — all of which were absolutely superb.
