WOW!!!|Our home for the week was the Vigna Bassa, a two bedroom, 2 bathroom villa-appartement on the beautiful vineyard. |Michaela was very friendly at reception and showed us our beautiful villa and explained what we needed to know about the surrounding area. |When we arrived the place took our breath away !!! |Just driving up the long tree lined road and seeing the vineyard along the way OMG!!!|The beauty of it all…|No matter which door or window was opened we could marvel at nature at its finest. |My photos do not do it justice.|We had everything that was needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We settled in and did a bit of grocery shopping for the next few days.|The next day we rested on site, made burgers on the BBQ for lunch, dipped in the pool and hot tub as it was a nice sunny day, |enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting tour in the afternoon. |Ottavia was so sweet explaining how they work the land and about the Castellani family. Very interesting. Very good wine.|We then relaxed for the rest of the day and evening having a wonderful supper on our terrace and taking in all the beauty before our eyes. |||It was easy to get around by car to visit the surrounding areas.|Pisa,Livorno, Lucca, Greve, Montefioralle, San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra are the places we visited. |A little side note…Andrea Bocelli and his family restaurant is in a small countryside village, his birth town of Lajatico and only a 15-20 minute drive away. Upstairs there is a very nice small museum with photos and artifacts of his music career. It was a nice and pleasant way to finish off our day road trip from Siena and Voltera. |We did enjoy Poggio's delicious breakfast for two mornings. |Every morning we left to visit an area of our choice and would come back to our beautiful villa and enjoy the magnificence of this place. |This is a dreamplace. And I dream of coming back someday !!!|Italy is a beautiful place to visit and Poggio Al Casone was the cherry on the top. Thank you Poggio...
