Natural Reserve of Doberdò Lakes and Pietrarossa — Attraction in Doberdò del Lago / Doberdob

I think the place has some potential but no indication or map helped to understand how the path was and that was very annoying. We discovered just trying to go.

You can see there are 3 ways to enter it. Via Ivan Trinko is accessible by car and along the way there are some paths entering the woods but no space where to park and no maps around to have an overview. Plus, the Lago di doberdò is seasonal so absent during summer (mostly during this dry summer). Therefore, nothing to see along this way.

Through Via Prvačina you go up hill to the supposed info centre where there is just a bar, a very tiny museum and no real info center. No maps or clear indications helped to know that the walking (towards Cadorna's house) is along a narrow path on the flank of the hill and a cliff on the other side (no protection). Nice view but with 2 dogs with us it didn't look safe so we didn't go.

In general, it was surprising the lack of indications overall the place and the low level of maintenance of the woods. I suggest to go not during summer and with some good equipment to go uphill or by bike. Be prepared to see different landscapes and think in advance from where to go. For sure the cadorna's house uphill is not for people who suffer...

This is interesting location between Italy and Slovenian. This is a location of several battles during the WWI. Lake is interesting but the surrounding is full of the ruins, trashes, signs are broken, maps are really not helpful. The village...

Posto davvero BELLISSIMO e molto INTERESSANTE dal punto di vista naturalistico ed escursionistico, MA devo assegnare solo 2 stelle perchè il centro visite a Pietrarossa è pochissimo segnalato e pubblicizzato nei vasti dintorni, mancano pure numerosi cartelloni o totem, sparsi nella vasta zona, con le informazioni sui pregi naturalistici della riserva; mancano anche delle vedette (che secondo me dovrebbero essere molto numerose) per fare il bird watching; manca un minimo di necessaria pulizia della vegetazione che nasconde almeno la METÀ dei laghi. Basterebbe che la REGIONE (o il COMUNE) stanziasse dei fondi per fare ciò che serve, oppure basterebbe far pagare un ridotto biglietto di ingresso alla...
