English: St. John Church is a must-see on your visit to Val Di Funes in the Dolomites. The views are postcard-worthy. It's an ideal route for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. There are enough paid parking spaces, but the place lacks dining options. Since they charge for parking, it would be ideal to build a public restroom for visitors. There are only restrooms in the restaurant, and if the restaurant is closed, then you're in trouble. Otherwise, the place is perfect. It features interactive digital screens for information and a park for children and adults with slides, sandpits, zip lines, climbing areas, etc.

Read moreWe visited during the day and were lucky with the weather, so we managed to take some beautiful photos here. However, that is more or less the only highlight of this spot.
Parking is close by, so there is not much walking required. The entrance fee is 4 EUR per person, which is alright, but the experience itself is quite limited. Visitors cannot go inside the church (which feels a bit strange given that you pay to enter), so essentially you can only walk around a fenced area that takes about five minutes to cover. The main attraction is taking photos with the iconic backdrop.
As part of a Dolomites road trip it can be a charming half-hour stop, but not more than that. There are many other stunning sights in the Dolomites that are far more worthwhile to dedicate extra time to.
Still, for a quick visit and a chance to see this postcard view in person, it may...

We visited the Church of San Giovanni in Ranui in Val di Funes and it was a complete disappointment. After paying 2 euros for parking, which forces you to pay for a minimum of 120 minutes even though the visit only takes 30 minutes at most, we prepared everything to visit the church with our three-month-old baby. This included assembling the stroller, applying sunscreen, and dealing with a crying baby. When we finally reached the entrance, we found a turnstile that prevented us from entering with the stroller. Additionally, the entrance fee is 4 euros per person, and you are not even allowed inside the church; you can only walk around the garden to see it from the outside. This made the whole trip pointless and extremely frustrating. A total rip-off. I do not recommend this place for families with...
