Grotta di Su Mannau — Attraction in Frùmini Majori/Fluminimaggiore

Three simple yet secret ingredients: water, rock and time. Thus began the fairy tale that made us live today our fantastic guide to the caves of Su Mannau. The first two ingredients are well understood. The third for us is intangible. If we compare the duration of our life to the limestone layers that are deposited in the cave we discover that 100 years is equivalent to 1 cm of growth of a stalagmite. Impressive how little we live. We only walked a few hundred meters into the cave, but it was enough to be dazzled by an infinite beauty. Light shapes, beautiful colors, pristine water that collects animal lives to the most unknown. A fairy world that nature has produced without human intervention. A place to know, study and protect. The passion of the guide who spent almost 50 years in contact with the cave made us fall in love with this place. More should be done to preserve it. La previa: la voy a comparar con una de las Cuevas que más me han impresionado en Europa, de características similares (Rio subterráneo) pero inmensamente más grande, concretamente en Slovenia, las cuevas de Skocjan.

Esta cueva ha sido alterada de forma espantosa con grandes estructuras metálicas. No obstante, sigue siendo hermosa de ver. Mi crítica es hacia la nula información que hay en lengua española, cuando ciertamente somos muchos los turistas de este país que visitan Sardegna. Para un catalanohablante como soy yo (Catalunya-Barcelona), no me cuesta nada entender el Italiano, pero encuentro grave no disponer de información de la cueva y de los restos arqueológicos supuestamente encontrados en el lugar (este es un aspecto importante). El guía, aunque amable pero con expresión de agotamiento,no supo responder a ninguna pregunta sobre los aspectos arqueológicos encontrados: solo se limitó a explicar para que se hizo servir una pequeña parte de la cueva.

*Nota para la entidad que gestiona la cueva: deberán ponerse la pilas y imitar lo que hacen en otros lugares de Europa, donde son conscientes de la diversidad lingüística que existe en Europa, e imprimen los trípticos en diferentes lenguas. Para lo que ofrecen actualmente, el precio es elevado.

Aquesta cova ha estat alterada de forma espantosa amb grans estructures metàl·liques. No obstant això, segueix sent bella de veure. La meva crítica és cap a la nul·la informació que hi ha en llengua espanyola, quan certament som molts els turistes d'aquests països (España i Catalunya) que visiten Sardegna. Per a un catalanoparlant com sóc jo (Catalunya-Barcelona), no em costa gaire entendre l'Italià, però trobo greu no disposar d'informació de la cova i de les restes arqueològiques suposadament trobats en el lloc (aquest és un aspecte important). El guia, encara que amable però amb expressió d'esgotament, no va saber respondre a cap pregunta sobre els aspectes arqueològics trobats: només es va limitar a explicar perquè es va fer servir una petita part de la cova.

The grotto itself is stunning, with well maintained walkways and friendly staff. The food is also well priced. However, out of our tour of around 30 people, only six spoke Italian. Which meant that the rest of us had to wait for a very long time for the Italian tour guide to talk those that could understand through the tour. We had an audio guide which was great, but it didn’t take as long so we all had to wait around for at least half of the total hour tour. It was difficult for our 2 year old! Some people even gave up waiting and left the tour early. It would be better to let those with the audio guides go on ahead with a a separate tour guide, to avoid this!
