Just back from an awesome two weeks at Le Diacce, part of the Podere Ciona vineyard / estate.
Party of nine, including an octogenarian and five 16-19 years olds. The property was just fantastic - very high spec (furniture, kitchen, bedrooms) but full of old charm. Plenty of room for all of us to do our own thing(s) and congregate, mainly over dinner. Awesome pool in a super setting that again worked for all of the group.
Great location - 15 minutes away from nearest town with a decent shop and super restaurants (not at all expensive), and an easy drive to the wider ‘in-Chianti’ towns, Sienna and Arezzo.
Hosts (Jennifer, Lorenzo and family) were brilliant. There as needed, unobtrusive and helpful. They have done a fantastic job with the property and the vineyard - latter well worth a visit and they deliver the wine to the property!
Have visited Tuscany a number of times and stayed in some lovely properties - this is the best by some way (and with good competition); the location helps (a little higher so nice hot days and cooler nights and a lot fewer bugs then we’ve had elsewhere). Also, very good value.
Wholeheartedly...
Read moreThe toughest part of this review is figuring out where to begin. The guest house, le Diacce, was covering in ivy, giving it this magical appearance. It had a charm to it. I can't explain it but it felt old enough to where if it was haunted, all of the ghosts would make great roommates. It was just this beautifully positive energy. The bed were comfy. The amenities were beautiful (the outdoor spaces were amazing, you got to overlook the vineyards). The pool was well maintained. But I think the best part of my experience was getting to interact with the owners and those who lived on the property. They were some of the most welcoming, and sweet human being I have ever met. They went out of their way to provide us with advice and help. The wine we tasted was out of this world. This place has captured my heart, for good reason too! I will never forget my time spent here and I can't...
Read moreReturned to Podere Ciona and Il Diacciono and found it even harder to leave the second time around. Barbara, Jennifer, Anna, and Lorenzo are outstanding hosts and the home is a peaceful respite where you can see the Milky Way and hear little but the famous wild boars of Tuscany. The home is well stocked and as rural as the location is, it's within 10-15 minutes of Gaiole and Radda, 30 minutes from Siena, and an hour from Florence. It is an old, rural, stone house, so set your expectations accordingly. The bonus is that after going to several wineries in the Chianti region, they even make the best wine of them all. We can't wait to return, and won't wait so long to do...
