I almost didn’t go since some reviews mentioned how steep and slippery it could be. I am a woman of a certain age and when one review said I may not see others on the trail, I had almost talked myself out of going. I am SO glad I went. The directions were confusing, but after being there, I can understand how many different ways there are to explore the area. I lucked out with the way I chose to go. I took a taxi to Via Carlo Galbiati and walked down Via Forno. It was easy to find the first sign pointing to the falls. The way down was steep, but groomed. I can see how it could be slippery, if wet. I would not advise taking kids under 6 years of age. There are lots of river rocks, so wearing sneakers or hiking shoes is important. You’ll hear the falls and then see the bridge. Once you cross the bridge you can walk down to the river and get in easily. That’s also how you can see the ancient aqueduct. Unfortunately, the trail along the river was closed, so I had to go up the other side. It was less steep. From the top of that side, you can see signs and maps to the tower and other areas. It’s a flat walk next to a field and then there are more maps and a water refill at the parking near the cemetery. It took me one hour to go from the start of Via Forno to the cemetery. Almost the whole way was tree-lines, so no sunscreen needed. I walked back down to town and saw great views. You cannot walk down to Menaggio if you go opposite of my directions as there are no sidewalks and high speed road with turns. I was back in town within another hour, leisurely walking with photo stops. You cannot walk down even take the historical trail and see another waterfall in Menaggio, if you’d...

Directions: Park at corner Via Roma and Via Carlo Galbiati as other reviewers have suggested. Google Maps does not know where the entrance is. It is on Via Forno but further down than Google tells you. Once you see the sign you know you are on the...
