It's a shame to pay for dinner water when the cost of such accommodation is so high. 85 euros half board and for dinner they put 1/8 chicken, without water? We understand to pay for water if extra is requested but never before in any shelter have we been charged for dinner water that has already been paid for. Aside from the sparse food, a plate of vegetable cream, some pasta and 1/8 chicken per person ??. Breakfast too little, the sausage and bread were finished and they didn't bring any more.||Too bad this place takes advantage of the good establishment and scenery to mistreat the climbers with high price and little food. They know that their location brings them customers who don't care.||The problems with the water made the toilets not work, they smelled a lot and could not even wash their faces.||They could save energy from the fire (the bar was at 28 degrees) for other more...

Read moreThis hut is certainly in an excellent location being on the edge of the glacier and just a 90 minute walk from the cable car station. Which probably explains why it's so popular as it was rammed when we visited.
Still they do manage to serve several hundred people for dinner which is impressive - although that may also explain why the staff are so grumpy (unless you're a guide which leads to better treatment).
Our room was very comfortable and quite warm but the same cannot be said for the toilets. They are both smelly and cold from the wind that rushes through. Still they get the job done.
It's worth remembering that the water here is not for drinking. So either carry up what you need or be prepared to pay up. And bring cash too because the card machine only works some...
