I was genuinely looking forward to our visit at Podere Casina, having heard so much about Tuscan hospitality and the region's renowned wines. However, our experience was sorely disappointing.
Firstly, they seemed to have forgotten our reservation, which might have been an honest oversight, but the subsequent treatment we received was anything but accommodating. The host, instead of being welcoming and apologetic, made us feel as though we were intruding on their private gathering. They appeared more interested in spending time with their visiting friends than attending to us, which is quite puzzling considering we were paying customers.
Having purchased a 4-wine tasting package, I was surprised when, upon reaching the fourth wine, I was asked if I even wanted it. Isn't that what I paid for? Throughout our visit, the host frequently spoke in German, presumably assuming we wouldn't understand. However, we did catch some rather disparaging remarks about us, questioning whether we'd even purchase anything.
Another notable was when the host disappeared for about 20 minutes, leaving us with their friends, who seemed just as confused by the situation. The ambiance was awkward, to say the least.
I had hoped for some insights about the vineyard, its history, and the wines, but those expectations remained unmet. Instead, I found myself initiating conversation to fill the silence.
Visiting Tuscany, I had anticipated a memorable wine tasting experience. Unfortunately, this was memorable for all the wrong reasons. I hope Podere Casina considers this feedback and makes efforts to improve the guest experience...

We stopped by spontaneously and were welcomed by Marcello who would prepare a plate with cheese and cold cuts for us. With the breathtaking view on the hills of Tuscany, we could taste their wines!
We were invited for our aperitivo by Marcello and we promised to come back to buy some bottles. They have a nice selection of red wines, one white wine and one rosé (one glass starting from 4€, the bottles ranging between 10-22€).
You can feel that everything is made with love. Wine, hospitality and the food should be rated with more than 5*! Thank you Marcello, Andrea & Rahel for this...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I’ve been looking for a winery exactly like this one! We wanted to do a spontaneous wine tasting and were welcomed warmly by Andrea. He was super kind and you can recognise wine is truely his passion. We were sitting together on the big table, tasting a few wines, enjoying the view and talking about each others lifes. So what should be a short stop became a three hour experience! I definitely recommend this winery to everyone who’s in Tuscany! It was nice...
