We stayed this week in the “Royal Suite”. We are conflicted with our review as the exterior property is beautiful, the area surrounding it equally as beautiful. Where we were disappointed was the service and quality once inside the castle. Upon arrival, our room was not available until 3:30pm, 30 minutes after supposed check in time. We were told room”there was an event” last night and they couldn’t have the room ready in time. We were also told at that time the main pool (the beautiful one you see on IG) wasn’t available because “of an event” . After I made a complaint, the pool was available at around 5pm, 2 hrs before a planned dinner. The next day there was a modeling shoot at same pool, and couples like us were not able to use the pool. The front of the house staff really could not care less. They cater to large events and weddings. If you are just here during the week as a guest, you are treated like an inconvenience, actually like you are bothering them. We work with hotels often, I’ve never seen a lack of care for the people staying. Our room, the highest suite option, was dirty, missing paint and has massive water stains on ceiling which are sure to hold mold above them. The water pressure is non existent, like no pressure at all. It rained and water leaked everywhere. I think this place should just be an event venue and not call itself a hotel. If you were like us and just staying as a guest, you will be dissatisfied. The grounds are lovely for a wedding but if we had a dollar for every time we heard “sorry you can’t because we have an event” during our stay we would...
Read moreSave yourself time - skip other options and book it now. Atop a mountain in beautiful Cilento and within a picturesque mountain village, this place exceeded all our expectations. The renovation has been extremely tastefully done - exposing all the stunning brick and wood work of the castle setting while designing in modern touches. Exceptional views to be had from the rooftop and pools, panoramas over the mountains and down to the sea. Some place for a sunset cocktail. Meals, particularly in the Bistro were memorable - really refined cooking, mainly local ingredients, superb wine selection. We save the last word for the most striking aspect - the staff. In our 3 day stay we were treated by everyone we met with the very best of professional courtesy and good cheer. They could not have done more to make our stay more comfortable or pleasant - and we were traveling with all the challenges of an 8 month baby. Top class staff, first...
Read moreThis was probably the most unique hotel we've ever been to, and we were in complete awe from the moment of arrival. We enjoyed the grounds, stunning vistas and pleasant staff, especially Davide. Unfortunately, soon after sunset while enjoying a cocktail in the Rivellino bar area overlooking the Amalfi Coast, my partner and I were legitimately shocked to hear 3 distinct gun shots, followed by an animal squealing, then one more gun shot. I realize we were on a hilltop and sound carries, but it was so loud and close we felt unsafe and immediately returned to our room. We understand the hotel is unable to control what transpires outside their walls, and cinghiali are an issue in the region, but guests should absolutely be made aware of this possibility to limit the traumatic reaction we endured. This incident, while not the hotel's fault, stained what would've been an...
