Azienda Agricola Conterno - Fantino — Attraction in Monforte d'Alba

We went for a wine tasting in summer 2021. The winery lies on top of a small hill in a beautiful town, it is family owned (in fact, it is related to the much better known and higher priced Giacomo Conterno) and the tour was done by the chief of production that has been with the company for a long time. So interesting and informative!

The location itself is breathtaking, we got to go up with the elevator to a kind of miniature roof top terrace with a glass railing and take in the view of charming Montforte d‘Alba while waiting for the other party to arrive to the tasting.

The tasting was in a beautiful setting, delicious wines and home-made cheese that we bought on top of several very reasonably priced bottles of Barolo and Barbaresco.

Amazing experience with Noemi, daughter of the Conterno family earlier this summer! It was one of the most informative sessions we've had during the stay. It was professional, she explained very well of the family history, vinification processes, terroir, winemaker relationships, exports, etc. We tried many many different wines and had the chance to check the labels and take photos. In the end we LOVED the Barolo Sori Ginestra. Thanks so much Noemi, the corkscrew you gifted us is also now my favorite from my all sets...

Outstanding wines, beautiful location, small and traditional. The location is vary cool as its high vantage point allows vistas of all ends of the Barolo region.
