We booked several wine tasting sessions at different vineyards during our stay in Umbria and this was by far the best. When we arrived we were a little apprehensive about what to expect because it appeared to be a very small cantina and we had a bad experience previously at a small winery. But as soon as we were welcomed by Valeria our fears disappeared. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt like one of the family. Valeria spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about wine, its production, and all the other products La Veneranda produces. La Veneranda is a small family business owned by Mr Roberto, who is passionate about producing only the best quality wine. We also met his son Riccado and Anna who we think is his wife. They work together to create great wines, cheeses, oils and condiments and provide a tasting experience which surpasses all others. We tasted their white and red wines along with an abundance of different breads, meats, cheeses and condiments, all of which were delicious. We spent three and a half hours here, but could easily have stayed a whole day. They have special events throughout the year so be sure to get in contact with Valeria if you want to know more. The cost of the tasting was €15 per person, but was honestly worth three times this price for the amount of wine and food we received. The wines themselves are very affordable for such good quality €6 to €19 per bottle or a 5 litre box for €12. Amazing! Even if you aren't visiting Montefalco, you must make a special trip to come here. You will not be disappointed. È perfetto!

I wanted to add an update for 2024 as we have been returning to La Veneranda yearly since 2019, and I felt it was important to express how excellent the experience remains. The cantina and its wine production has developed and grown each year but without losing any passion or integrity, staying faithful to it's roots. Production not only remains extremely high quality, but improves year on year, and the team provides a highly personal and relaxed experience for every guest. Don't be afraid to ask to adapt any of the tastings according to your preferences. Obviously everyone's tastes are different, but I can honestly say La Veneranda's Montefalco Sagrantino is my favourite wine for uniqueness, flavour, and complexity (and I have tasted a lot of wines!). Each year's production has its own nuances. The grapes are allowed to express themselves moreso than at the commercial wineries, which tend to seek consistency to satisfy the common market. It is clear to see the love poured into the wine making and hospitality at La Veneranda. A big shout out to Roberto, Valeria, Ricardo, Anna-Rita, and Eleanora. Make a visit to this cantina a priority on your next...

Stopped in for a wine tasting and it was an amazing experience! The €15 tasting included 5 wines and course after course of food pairings, all of which were also produced by winery! (Sans the bread). They make both white and red wine jelly, both delicious! We had pecorino, prosciutto, capocollo, salami, onion jam made with local cipolla onions and more! If you go, make sure you don't eat before! We showed up right behind the tractor delivering the hand cut fresh grapes and the owner Roberto took us back to see how it all gets processed. Val was so very kind and patient with us during our tasting. Thanks so much to Roberto, Val and the rest of the family for such a wonderful day 😍. Of course we bought 4 bottles of wine to take home, it...

We stopped by Cantina La Veneranda as we drove around the Montefalco area on a beautiful winters day. Wow, this was a most wonderful experience. Staff are very friendly, the winemaker, sorry didn’t get your name, was fabulous giving us the history of the area and the family and details of each wine we tasted. Also his English was very good which was great since our Italian is limited. We meet the owner Roberto, who was lovely. 15 euro for wine tasting (6 different wines) matched with their own produce of meats, cheeses, breads and their Delizia Dolce Di Vino Rosso and Bianco was a bargain and delicious. If you are looking at visiting Montefalco wineries don’t...

Spent some time here doing a wine tasting and tour. We enjoyed the San Fortunato tasting that was paired with delicious food from their land. Roberto was amazing. We left with lots of wine to make it through the rest of the time here in Italy. Thank you again Roberto.
