We booked a tour around the winery and a 3 course meal.
The tour was OK.
But the food and service were terrible!
There were 2 big groups of 14 people each and 3 tables with 2 persons each.
First we had a small, really small portion of pasta. While everyone got extra cheese on the table and some bread we had to asked for it.
As the 2nd dish we had some pork with "fries". The pork was dry and tasted like it was from yesterday. The fries were soggy and not crispy at all. Everything was not really warm.
The two big groups got new plates and more pork and fries. We got ignored. But later they noticed the failure and brought us some additional food too.
As dessert we got 2 small pieces of dry cake. (tasted old and not good)
The staff was eating and talking on their phone while serving some wine. The wine was actually quiet good.
During the whole service, no one of the staff told us what we were eating.
We paid and left.
My recommendation is to go in a big group, otherwise you will...
Read moreWe loved our visit here. Paolo gave an entertaining tour and explained the systems that allow him to manage the winemaking process. The team at Le Cimate clearly enjoys technology and uses machines and materials that are state of the art. For our tasting, we chose the “Degustazione Sacro-Selection” to which Paolo kindly added a Trebbiano Spoletino and a second dessert wine. The quality of the wines was exceptional. The Montefalco Rosso DOC is structured and powerful and amazing at the price. The "Super Umbrian" 50/50 Sagratino / Cab Sav is more expensive but works so well, with the Cab Sav balancing the Sagratino and adding some leafy freshness. Then the sweet wines--paired with Le Cimate's hazelnut spread--were a delight. Hoping to have a chance to visit again some day and try the rest of...

I was enchanted by this fabulous winery with passionate, devoted, knowledgeable wine makers who clearly love what they do. Valentina was a wonderful and passionate host and Paolo is clearly so passionate about wine making.
Every wine was divine and the food was delicious. A must try is the hazelnut spread which was a highlight and so is their olive oil. A magical winery in an idyllic location. I cannot wait to...
