Fattoria Lornano — Attraction in Monteriggioni

The best mid-sized family-run winery I came across during my wine-tasting adventures in Tuscany this summer. There is a couple who have played a major hand in running the winery for the last 16 years and who could not be friendlier to visiting North Americans (her English is very good and she tries hard to explain everything as best she can). Our group tried every wine there, and everyone ended up ordering a case for delivery back the US - testament to the presentation, the great wine and very advantageous shipping prices. We didn't stay in the accommodation, but came for the wine tasting with lunch. We sampled some of the best wine Tuscany has to offer and the local pasta was fantastic, what could be better?

Our host was very engaging and obviously knew her stuff, I'm embarrassed to admit I've forgotten her name though, and I'm not sure she appreciated my joke asking if they had any Valpollicella to take back home. Apologies for my English sense of humour. Must've been the wine!

Booked into Fattoria Lornano as a group of 6 on the day for a light lunch which included a short tour and wine tasting with lunch.
