The beautiful serpentine road from the village Timau took me to the “Passo Monte Croce Carnico” (elevation of 1.357m) . It is the border between Italy and Austria. On the pass was the “Open-air museum of mountain warfare 1915-18”. On the serpentine road down from the Pass was the “heldenfriedhof” heroes’ cemetery. Strange, very strange feeling… Emptiness, no cars, no people, only cut trees around, and crosses. The fierce battles of the First World War took place there.

Eine gute zum größtenteils ausgebaute Strecke, mit insgesamt 24 Serpentinen rauf und runter zum Teil mit Vorsicht zu befahren. Die Landschaft ist traumhaft. Die Gaststätte am Paß ist für ein Besuch zum empfehlen. Also fahr vorsichtig nehmt auf andere Fahrzeuge Rücksicht .Und kommt 👍 an. Schreib das nicht umsonst, wenn Autofahrer versuchen in der Serpentine zu überholen ob einheimische oder Urlauber. Wo bleibt die Vernunft???? Wenn andere Menschen gefährtet werden. Ich möchte auch heil zuhause ankommen. Der Plöckenpass ist auf nicht absehbarer Zeit nach einem felsabsturz auf italienischen Seite gesperrt. Nach Aussage der einheimischen ist man am überlegen ob die Kosten nicht zu hoch sind das der Pass nicht mehr geöffnet wird. Nach Aussagen der einheimischen soll der Pass Ende 2024 wieder offen sein. Es wird 2 Millionen investiert.

Netter kleiner Pass, dazu Geschichtsträchtig. Auf den Weg auf Österreichischer Seite ein Heldenfriedhof für die Gefallenen des ersten Weltkrieges. Oben auf dem Pass selber dann ein italiensisches Denkmal. Für Bergsportler ist hier ein historischer Klettersteig und oben ein Freilichtmuseum mit nachgebauten Stellungen aus dem ersten Weltkrieg. Wirklich Nett das ganze.

Eingeschränkt zum empfehlen für Wohnmobile. Wir haben uns von Google Maps navigieren lassen. Eine riskante Fahrt mit einer ampelbaustelle letzte Woche. anfahren bei 10 % Steigung mit dem beladenen Wohnmobil…. Gibt es da Optionen bei Google für Wohnmobile? Mit dem Auto nicht ganz so krass. Aber recht enge Straße. Wer Kurven nicht gut verträgt für den ist das nix …..

11/09/22 Σε ένα ταξίδι με μοτοσυκλέτες στα Βαλκάνια και στην Αυστρία, διασχίσαμε το Plocken pass. Ίσως ένα από τα πιο ωραία μοτοσυκλετιστικά πάσσα των Ιουλιανών Άλπεων. Ειδικά η ιταλική μεριά θα σας αποζημιώσει και οπτικά και οδηγικά. Πραγματικά το προτείνω.

La strada che porta al passo di Monte Croce Carnico è una delle più belle che possiamo immaginare, potete quindi capire perché questo itinerario riserva piacevoli sorprese per chi è in sella alla sua due ruote. il valico unisce l’Italia all’Austria.
