Tenuta Poggio Rosso — Attraction in Piombino

It's great to see people care about something so much that they do it so well. That's the case with this winery. You can tell the owners have taken so much care in the details. They care for the environment (using solar panels, irrigating with their own water supply, being organic); they care for aesthetics (the wine-tasting room has a calming sense and is very well decorated, the house is beautiful, the grounds and vineyards are well-cared for); and they of course care about the wine (the history behind the names and local area, using the best grapes for the region, and the care taken in the creation of their wine). What a great experience, nice little place where we got a tour of the wine yard, wine production and storage area where the wine ages.

And at the end, cosy wine tasting and som delicious tapas - Local cheese, bread and olive oil from they own produce, And cured ham.

All for ONLY 35€ pr person

Best experience we yet have gotten in an Italian Winery, the hospitality was unbelievable.

We bought 12 bottles of their Great white wine Feronia “Extremely well tasting and balanced” and 1 of the highest class white wine Senza Nome.

We even bought a bottle of the Vintage white wine Feronia they had in their private wine cellar and chose to share it with the Manager, the owners and the winemaker.

Such a beautiful place to drink wine, taste olive oil and eat food. For 20 Euros we were treated to a first class tour! Eddie poured us healthy wine tasting portions and served a beautiful meat and cheese plate to enjoy with the afternoon. We walked through the olive orchards and up to the small lot production vineyard where we enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. We loved that this winery does not use pesticide in its orchard and produces award winning wine with a minimum use of sulphites.
