Stayed one night on our alpine hike. The location is beautiful and peaceful. Picture yourself staying at a mountain chalet in a beautiful setting with a stream, lake, mountains, marmots, grazing cattle along with the gentle sound of cow bells, a chapel, and a pristine alpine meadow with wildflowers. Yes, it is that beautiful!||||The patio/bar was a nice place to relax and visit after hiking. ||||Good restaurant and near another rifugio (Fanes) that also has a good restaurant--so, many options here in this remote stretch of the Dolomites. The Rifugio Lavarella has many guest rooms which share several showers/toilets; divided by women and men. The showers/toilets are on 1st floor and basement level; awkward for nighttime trips to the toilet. ||||Breakfast options are limited as with the other rifugio at which we stayed--but, plenty good enough for a mountain rifugio. It was the nicest rifugio we stayed in.||I like to hike, but the first bit of the hike to the hut was hot and dusty. ||We opted for a family room with three beds- the little valley is very peaceful, and we heard only the sound of cow bells. The beds were very cozy. The food was delicious, mostly locally sourced, and the beer was great. ||We appreciated the attention to detail- like the big sink near the boot room where we could wash our clothes, something I have not seen- a device that spins the excess water out of the clean clothes so they dry faster. ||The family that runs to hut was sincerely gracious, and spoke enough English to make the stay easier for us. To top it off, when I lost my wallet at the rifugio the owners contacted me, and returned all of the money. Their level of integrity and hospitality...
