Podere Dell Uliveto — Attraction in San Casciano in Val di Pesa

We had a great experience meeting Filippo at his vineyard for some wine tasting. He welcomed us warmly and explained a lot about the wine making process as well as the circumstances of a family-owned vineyard.

We sampled four wines, and they showcased the great range of flavours produced by Podere dell'Uliveto. We paid 10€ per person an the wine was the focus of the whole meeting.

Talking to Filippo was really easy (contacted him on whatsapp) and we were able to schedule an early sunday wine tasting on the saturday beforehand. Filippo was nice and helpful and also helped us to buy some local pecorino from a neighbouring farm.

If I was capable of giving more than five stars, I would. Hands down the best winery experience I had on this trip through Tuscany. The owner Fillipo was kind, informative, and passionate about his wines. He spent an extensive amount of time telling the stories behind his wines, explaining the organic process in depth. I was particularly impressed with his use of the Pugnitello grape, an ancient Etruscan grape since forgotten as it is often times too tedious for those who are just looking to churn a profit and solely grow the more widely known Sangiovese. His love for the family vineyard seeped through and it was refreshing to receive such an intimate tasting, 10/10...

What can I say more then the 5 star rating I'm giving. This place is a hidden treasure! My wife & I were looking for a last minute wine tour after a rainy morning in the Tuscan countryside when we came across this vineyard.
