Antico Castello Winery — Attraction in San Mango sul Calore

We enjoyed a wonderful few hours being educated on the Irpinian grapes that produce the regional Ionian wines from Ionica grapes. Taurazi wines were a hit with our group of three generations. Chiara was educational and her Mama cooked us up a beautiful plates of canapé’s to accompany the antipasto plate…cheeses, jam, salami from her Villa & garden. We were regaled with their family history & layered with the winery tasting made for a wonderful boutique experience. We enjoyed it so much we bought a few bottles to enjoy together on the Amalfi Coast. It was amazing time at Antico Castello winery - so sweet and warm welcome, so delicious snacks and such variety. For the 1st minute we were a bit puzzled as it was not clear if we arrived for wine tasting or restaurant gastronomic surprices!

The winery is like a small castle :) accompanied with great tour, family atmosphere, beautiful and modern tasting room and probably the best Italian wines! The Greco impressed us very much! Powerful with its own character! Taurasi riserva 2011 was simply the God!

The three hour food and wine experience was fantastic. Mamma makes the food from scratch and invites you into the kitchen. We met the whole family over the course of the experience which began with delicious food with wine and concluded with some of the best tiramisu we’ve ever had. The wine is interesting and enjoyable, and Chiara knows well and formally represents the region - we were fortunate to meet her the day of a regional wine tasting event in Taurasi, and she added us to the entry list with the ease of a text message even though the event was sold out.
