I do not recommend this place. First of all, the place is nothing special and the tour lasts like 30 minutes if you want to do it on your own. The guide did not wait for all the people of the group and it went straight forward to the last point of this “tour” (first rule of a guide is to check if all the people are there and to wait for the slowest ones). When we complained about it, the guide went to the boss that came to us bragging saying that we were wrong and that we had to say that one of the group walked slowly. Without admitting that they made a group of more than 20 people (our group was of 11 people) with only one not expert guide. Moreover, they sell stuff (objects and food) without giving (and making) you the receipts so, they do not pay taxes on such things. We paid 20 euros per person because we booked the tour through the place where we slept the night before and they did not know about our arrival, they also asked “how much did you pay?” (and they took note of the amount) just to understand how much they earned without paying taxes and the money they had to give to the place where we stayed. I am Sicilian and I am ashamed of this place, please if you are a tourist do not go there and avoid it at any cost.

EDIT:

The answer that “Gole di Tiberio” gave is completely wrong. Maybe they are afraid of being fined if authorities read this review. I do not have any receipt of anything not because I thrown them away but because they did not make any receipt and the cash register was always open and they did not digit any number on it but they just put the money in or gave you the change. We were a group of 11 people and all of us can witnessing that. They do not have either the machine for paying by card (bancomat) that since June is mandatory in Italy. Moreover, the guide, who was not expert, as well as the boss (that is the guy who replied to the message), did not know that the first rule when you do an excursion is to wait for the slowest one (many of us are expert hikers and we know very well how it works) and if it is true what they said, they have to forbid the experience to children who walk slower than adults. Moreover, they lack of good manners because the girl who was slower than the others has just a problem to her foot and they checked each of us at the beginning of the experience (and who replied to this post came to us called her “disabled” in front of her). So, I would say that what they said in the answer is completely wrong.

The person who replied is the one who invented the rules that do not exist and that for let us calming down offered us a beer (that is a typical Sicilian style to solve the problems). Indeed, writing that “who does not ask for the receipt is as guilty as the one who does not make the receipt” is the typical way of cheating the neighbor and to admit that they do not make any receipt! You have to be ashamed of your behavior.

PLEASE avoid this place at any cost. I will always do the holidays in Sicily because I am Sicilian and I am ashamed of you and your answers and the lack of good manners (apart from your bad English and Italian as well).

Esperienza terribile, sia nei modi di fare che nel trattare le persone. Non fanno scontrini, non abbiamo mai ricevuto dei biglietti ufficiali né una prenotazione. Da siciliano vi dico di andare da...

This was a really great activity, thoroughly enjoyed our trip through the gorge. Really beautiful scenery, only 30 minutes from Cefalu. Only booked the night before and they responded to my message promptly even outside of advertised hours which was appreciated (was only expecting them to reply in the morning). Easy change facilities and only 1 euro for a locker which was reasonable. We wore aqua shoes which were fine, I think there were shoes for hire at a reasonable price. We chilled for a bit playing table football (free) whilst waiting, then our guide took us into the Canyon, first a walk, then boat, then another walk and finally a nice dip before returning on the same route. The route is easy going and our guide was excellent talking to us in English throughout. Afterwards we had lunch there which was decent and reasonably priced. Almost perfect.

Only real issue was the shuttle bus. This costs an extra 2.50 per person which is just stupid, just include it in the price as everyone will take it. It's literally the first interaction you have and immediately gets you a little annoyed forking out another 10 euro, no idea why everyone seems to be trying to follow this stupid add on fee pricing, it just annoys people for no reason. Not the end of the world but worse was to come, also related to the shuttle. Whilst we were eating our lunch it was apparent the shuttle bus hadn't appeared in a while and people (20+) were already queuing for some time. I asked the centre if the shuttle was coming and they said 5 minutes. 20 minutes later still no sign so asked again and was told it was coming. So I hiked up to the car park, which only takes less than 10 minutes but is steep in the heat. When I arrived there was no sign of the shuttle bus, only another staff member in a 4x4. I asked where the bus was and was told it wouldn't be long. I said lots of people had already been waiting over 30 minutes and there was now around 20+ people waiting. She appeared to phone the shuttle and then reluctantly agreed to go down and get the rest of my family. Obviously since there were a number of people already waiting and the capacity of the 4x4 was limited it took a number of trips up and down before my family was back in the car, costing us maybe 45 minutes of precious holiday time, not ideal when we had things planned later in Cefalu. As we were leaving the bus finally turned up, I can only assume it must have been taking a group back to their accommodation somewhere, possibly Cefalu. If they'd just told us it would be a while we'd have all just walked up and other than being a bit tired would have only cost us 10 minutes. Shame how something so simple takes the shine off what was otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Despite the issues with the shuttle I'd still highly recommend, we did genuinely thoroughly enjoy it. I did map the walk if you want to avoid the shuttle, it was 0.43km, had an elevation gain of 83m and took exactly 7m to walk up (I'm fit but was taking it easy). It would be very easy to walk down and not exactly difficult to walk back up either. Be aware the path down is separate from the road down, just ask the staff at the car park...

Did the tracking in this place. We paid 13 euros per person. What did we think about it is that there isn't much to see and nothing special or something really beautiful. The water is full of green musk. The ponds they say you can take bath in are also green and full of green musk. Really for 13 euros is a waste of money. We have done tracking for less money and much much much beautiful places for example in cava grande we paid 8 euros and the experience lasted whole day and at the end of the day the whole groups was satisfied and happy. Here we paid parking per car 3 euro. Transport to take you down hill 2 euro per person (round trip). So there is much good hiking experience. Then there is a small rubber boat trip that I think they promote the most but it's not worth spending all the 13 euro for as it's only 20 min and nothing to say wow about it. If you see any photos that's all there is to it about this place . If you are looking for an amazing experience, Sicily is full of wonderful...

It's an immersive experience in a stunning location. The guides are good, the price is fair (20 euros) and the length of the tour takes around two hours. The first part is an introduction held by a guide who describes the territory, flora and fauna of the place. The second one consists in a boat trip along the river. You'll be able to see birds' nests, small caves, endemic fauna and some typical insects. The third part allows you to go for a short walk around 10-15 mn and dive in its waters. I really liked the experience in the overall, recommended! Some tips: bring rocky shoes, small backpack with some water and sunscreen. The parking lot is located up in the hill so you will have to go down about 200 mts and it might get very steep in some points. If you don't want to walk, a transfer can be asked for 2.50 both ways (or 2.50 one way). There are a picnic area, lockers, changing rooms, a small bar and a chill out zone. Hope you'll find it useful, enjoy!
