Tenuta Cavalier Pepe — Attraction in Sant'Angelo all'Esca

At the start of the ‘Vendemmia’ we had a tour along the vineyards, inside the winery as well as a tasting of some of the wines during lunch. We enjoyed the warm hospitality of the Pepe family as well as the professional explanation at all stages by Giuseppe. The predicted weather was horrible. We went to a local winery. And although the wines were amazing, the host of the tour was very theoretically educated and lacked practical experience (in my opinion). The entire tour felt as reading a book of vinology. Whenever we asked a question we got an answer as if we were stupid. In comparison to other small vineyards this felt very industrial. For sure that she studied and was working on a wage instead of being an owner. Definitely missing the experience of a real owner talking about his/her passion and ownership. Absolutely amazing experience. We were shown around the facility, had the most extensive conversation about wine and the process of producing it, and the complexity of it all. The owner sat us down for the wine tasting and slowly walked us through every note in the wine - Truly a delight. The food in the restaurant paired with the wine was magnificent.
