When you arrive in the area there ares different spots where to park. Maybe try to go further by car searching for the P of parking or even closer to the real entry. The price for the visit is 5€.
It's a nice place in the wild. We brought our dogs and it was fun to walk in the woods. During summer it looks less nice though because there are more mosquitos and mostly there's very little water (terrible this particular year) so also less birds and animals around. The landscape was very dry than usual. My suggestion is to avoid summer to go and to bring a powerful camera or binoculars otherwise birds will be too far to be seen.
Along the path you will arrive at a crossroads. I suggest you to go for sure on the right to La foce dell'Isonzo because it's the path along that alongated land called Isola della Cona towards Punta spigolo. That land is 5 km long. We did half because the path looked always the same and with the dogs it was taking too tiring. You can observe there nice wild white horses.
Experience to try but quite problematic the drought this year: some areas were...
Read moreWonderful place for a walk, with beautiful nature and plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. There are blinds for bird watching, and in some of them you can get really close to the birds. It was certainly a special experience for us. Two different trails are available here, a shorter one goes round the wetland area and is about 3 km long, the longer one to the tip of the peninsula and is about 10 km long. We wish we could do the longer one, but it was just tok hot at the time of our visit. One other thing to note, there's an entry fee for the trails (5€ at the time of our visit), but the ticket office doesn't seem to be open all the time. You can then enter freely and they'll expect you to pay when you come back out. A little...
Read moreThe nature reserve is perfect for a half day trip, I recommend you visit the place with bike or car (car parking available in front of the entrance to the park).
There is a building where you buy the ticket (we paid around 5 Euros) and a nice small Cafe with great views over the big lake.
The hike around the nature reserve takes around one hour, you will come across different viewing spots where you can observe the wild life in the lake (everything from birds and turtles to horses). Bring sunscreen, as you will be exposed to sun during the hike (also a bottle of water).
I visited with my girlfriend and we liked it a lot, it's not crowded, beautiful scenery and you can spot many...
