Riserva Naturale Orientata Capo Rama — Attraction in Terrasini

This is an amazing place and actually the only place where you can have a walk and wander around amongst beautiful Mediterranean pants and birds in this part of Sicily. Of course in Sicily there must always be some illogical thing such as not allowing nature lovers into nature. There are WWF guards that behave as if the place is owned by them and even if your dog is on the leash and you pick up all the poo, they still promptly kick you out. In all other places on the planet they allow people to experience nature, that's how people get reconnected with it and consequently respect it, but not in Caporama, the WWF caporals rather chasing bird watchers than proper vandals and stray dogs in the mountain. L’area di Capo Rama è oggetto di tutela fin dal 1968 da parte del Comune di Terrasini come “Biotopo di inestimabile valore”. Il territorio della riserva è definito "di ragguardevole interesse scientifico (geologico, floristico e faunistico)" . Un paio di sentieri guidano i visitatori alle bellezze del parco: di notevole rilievo la macchia mediterranea: fichidindia, ginestre, salsapariglia nostrana, pomi di Sodoma, specie diverse di asparagi, la ginestra spinosa, l'asfodelo bianco, specie diverse di Opuntia e l'euforbia arborescente, pianta totalmente priva di foglie in estate e rigogliosa in inverno. E tanti esemplari di palma nana. Spettacolare il panorama a strapiombo sulle cale. La riserva è dominata dalla mole della Torre di Capo Rama, antica torre di avvistamento che faceva parte del sistema delle torri della Sicilia, complesso sistema di avvistamento delle navi saracene, barbare e ottomane. La torre è tra le più antiche esistenti di impianto circolare, con tipologia simile a quelle di Capo Mongerbino, della Torre del Rotolo, di Torre di Mondello, e di Torre di Isola delle Femmine detta di dentro (terraferma), e probabilmente fu costruita nel 1405 al tempo del re aragonese Martino il giovane. È il manufatto più antico esistente nel territorio comunale di Terrasini e risulta inserita in tutti gli elenchi ufficiali delle torri che costituivano il complesso e articolato sistema di avvistamento costiero. Very nice walking path next to the sea. Wild and natural plants, rocky. A hat and suntan lotion are a must. The view on the sea from above the limestone clifs is very nice. It takes about an hour to complete the paths 1 and 2 on a slow pace. Unfortunatly I could not find the access to the path number 3 as it seemed closed. There are 3 parkings and they are free. There is no shade at all and nowhere to seat but it’s a very nice walk!!! A MUST!!! And free...
