To reach Pozzo della Madonna we had to take a steep curvy (car) road. Fortunately, we arrived relatively late in the evening (ca 5pm) so that the sun was already hiding behind the top of the mountains and the road was covered by a natural shadow. The mid-day experience would have been completely different. At the stop point no. 4, we diverged to a narrow forest path to reach the river and we did which was an experience by itself. We noted that many people just simply settled down along the river side enjoying some small cold water pools which gave sort of a privacy feeling. Yet, that was not the end point. Apparently, we missed a hidden path to the Pozzo della Madonna waterfall! There were NO SIGNS!

DIRECTIONS: Basically, when you go down to the river look for a narrow (small) stairs on your right and continue the hilly path till the Pozzo della Madonna.

It’s definitely worth the effort as mountain water was so refreshing! Yet, the space at a waterfall is very limited so it can be crowded...

The walk to this waterfall was such a nice experience. The path goes through really pretty scenery, and I found myself stopping a few times just to take it all in. If you go, I’d recommend wearing comfortable sports shoes because some parts can be a bit uneven or damp.

At the bottom, there’s a small lake with cool, clear water that feels amazing for a swim. I also noticed a rope on the side — it’s there so you can climb up to the top of the waterfall. Jumping from the top into the water was definitely the highlight for me!

It’s one of those places where you can enjoy the calm of nature but also have a little thrill at the same time. If you like it quieter, try to get there earlier in...
