Our visit to Le Berne Winery turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip. When we arrived, we were greeted by a younger man, one of the owners. I’ll admit, my first thought was, “What does this kid know about wine?” But within minutes, his passion and expertise completely won us over.
As we chatted, I mentioned a red wine we had the night before in town, one of the best I’d had in Tuscany, and supposedly a very limited production. He asked if I took a picture of the label, which I had. The moment I showed it to him, he started laughing, it was his wine! A special bottle he had produced with only 600 made. He even grabbed one from the shelf and showed us the back, proudly pointing out his name and signature. Total serendipity, here we were, standing in his vineyard, after unknowingly enjoying his wine the night before.
Luckily, he had a few bottles in the back that he proudly sold us to take home and add to our collection, a perfect way to remember the experience and share it with others back home.
Federico was a fantastic host. He shared the rich history of the vineyard, his family, and his personal journey. He walked us through every wine they produce, explaining each one in detail, from how they’re made to why certain flavors stand out.
This was more than a tasting, it was a personal and passionate glimpse into the heart of Tuscan winemaking. I truly hope to return someday and share another glass with Federico. Highly,...
Read moreLe Berne was recommended by another local Podera who couldn't accommodate us due to work they were doing in their cellar on the day. But Le Berne was great. A big shout out to Frederico and Tassos, who led us through the visit with explanation and stories. The wines served were all quality, from the easy drinking Rose and Rosso di Montepulciano, to the more complex Nobile and Cervognano Alto. Definitely recommend a visit to this authentic family winery if you are visiting Montepulciano. We even bought a case and look forward to drinking Le Berne wines at home. Thank you to the Natalini family for a wonderful experience and making award...

Federico, who greeted us when we arrived was extremely welcoming, bringing us around the vineyard and also gave us a tour of their wine cellar, patiently explaining to us their wine making process and how the quality wine is produced. He also then let us try their delicious wine and we had a really long and enjoyable conversation about the history of this cosy winery and about our Tuscan experience. Would highly recommend everyone to drop by this winery to enjoy their hospitality and also the amazing scenic views on...
