A mountain hut in a beautiful location. Sadly had a very bad experience. Went there with the Summit of Gran Paradiso in mind. Firstly at check in, the staff say we can leave our thermals at the bar counter in the evening and they fill it with tea to be ready in the morning when u depart to go summit. But then they charge you for the tea (they say as if it is free/included in the price of the stay). They also say you can leave the stuff you won't need in a special room, as to not carry everything up to the peak. But then they "tidy" the room (they rummage through all the gear in the room and rearrange it around). After returning i noticed that someone stole my expensive merino base layer, also my extra hiking pants(salewa)...After asking the staff, every member had different answers. Someone said "we dont touch the stuff" the other said "yes we tidy the room". I was very suprised that someone would steal those things, and I am a bit skeptic that it was done by the staff, since a lot of mine and my friends stuff was scattered around the room (not where we left it), and the fact that they aren't transparent about charging for certain things (such as the tea). I am very disappointed since I put my trust in them. They were very dismissive and cared not...

There are so many hiking trails all over the Aosta valley that you could spend a lot of time exploring. The trail from the parking lot begins in Pont at the end of the road of Valsavarenche. Follow the trail signs, cross the bridge and walk along the river shore until the trail turns left and up into the forest. The trail is wide and well maintained, steep going but the rewards start when you pass above the tree line to see the mountains around you. Water falls, mountain goats and mountain peaks will open up the higher you climb. The trail splits and narrows as you reach the top of the valley wall but the refugio is within reach. ||||You should be fit and comfortable with heights although you don't need a guide or rope yourself off and scrabble over too many rocks. Pack a lunch and enjoy the view from the refugio whether open or closed. Of course you can stopover and keep climbing but this is the perfect half day hike for someone who just wants that sensation of touching...
