While the workers are great and friendly and you can't beat the price, this is not a good place to ski. They do not keep your safety in mind at all. 90% of the trails are not marked, so I tried venturing a little, with just a map in my pocket, and got lost on blues while looking for greens twice. You can also expect the blues to feel more like blacks, because most of the trails are not groomed. I went down a blue that would've been fun and easy-ish for an intermediate skier, but the 8" of powder I had to get through buried one of my skis with my foot still in it, leaving me unable to move, calling for help (which ski patrol never responded to) while one of my friends started crawling back up the mountain to save me. Most of the mountain was ungroomed, so the 4 beginners in the group with us had very few options for getting down safely. They could also probably trim some trees, because most of the trails were in the shade, making them very icy early in the day. Other tiny things: lift chairs are super spaced out so it takes a long time to get up, and the lodge is not well insulated and has only a single fireplace for warming the entire building. Overall, if you're an advanced skier and really know the mountain, come here. If you're everybody else, pick somewhere with your...
Read moreThis place has the soul of skiing and snowboarding that has been stripped away from the corporate owned resorts. I drive 2 hours from Park City to disconnect and refresh. It's always a best day here when you have a group of friends to ride with. When you leave at the end of the day, you get that feeling of stoke of why you started skiing/boarding to begin with.
For the advanced skier or rider, you can poke around the trees and explore all day long finding fresh lines. The lift is slow but it allows for good conversation, it isn't a race to find powder that is tracked out in two runs like the mega resorts.
If you're looking for pristine corduroy, wifi in the lodge, (you can't even get cell phone service except a few spots on the lift), or fancy amenities, this isn't it. This is skiing and boarding in its' purest form.
This is a true friendly mom and pop, family owned resort. You'll see the owners flipping burgers, driving the snow cat, running ski school, selling lift tickets, bumping chairs and everything you else you can think of. A lot of passion and love go into making this operate.
I can't wait to get back...
Read moreLiving in Jackson Hole I have driven by the turnoff for this ski area 100x telling myself I need to try pine creek. Hadn’t got around to it until my friend invited me to his 70th birthday party where he had rented the entire mountain for the day. What an incredible day! 20-30 friends and a great little mountain of varied terrain with 10” of fresh powder we couldn’t begin to ski off in a day.
Great terrain. Nice quad chairlift. Met the owner loading lifts. Really neat older rancher from a multigenerational family in the area. Incredible guy who has kept the place running for over 45 years.
It was a bit like stepping back in time to my childhood ski hill experience. Nice centralized lodge with fireplace for warming and tables for eating. There’s a grill operation that serves great hamburgers and such, and rental/ski tune/incidentals store in the basement. So incredibly welcoming and not over commercialized like other places I ski. Not a huge hill, but great prices on everything and free parking. This was my best day of skiing in the last 3 years. I...
