It is on Mhow-Mandaleshwar road. It is about 30 km from Mhow, 50 km from Indore, 33 km from Maheshwar and 75 km from the district headquarters Khargone. Jam Darwaza is the gateway to Malwa-Nimar. There is a huge historical door which was built by Ahilyabai Holkar in 1791.This door was named Jam Darwaza after the name of the village.[1] Ahilyabai Holkar used this route to go from Maheshwar to Indore. This gate was built at the mouth of the hill in the middle of the shortest route between Maheshwar and Indore in such a way that an eye could be kept on both sides of the route. This door has special significance. It was from here that the armies used to come and go and it was made as a check point. Standing at this door, soldiers could easily keep an eye on the movements at the foot of the hill in Nimar. Jam Gate is also called the entrance gate of Nimar-Malwa. Ahilya Mata's palanquin coming from Maheshwar to Indore had stopped here at Jam Ghat for night rest. During this time, Maratha Ganpat Rao, who lived here, used to collect tax from the bullock carts and horse riders plying between Malwa and Nimar at Jam Ghat. He placed all that at the feet of Ahilya Mata and told her to use this tax to develop Rajghat. On which Ahalya Mata said that you used to collect this tax for public welfare. Therefore, this tax will serve public interest and not Rajghat. After which, on 17 February 1791, Ahilya Mata got the Jam Darwaza constructed on the Mhow-Mandaleshwar border with the tax money received as a gift. After this, whenever Ahilya Mata used to go from Indore to Maheshwar, she used to stay here for the night.

Excellent place to visit on weekends, you will love to eat Maggi there while sitting on khaat and viewing the beauty of nature at its best... It is on the way between Mhow-Khargone road, the road is well maintained and you will not have any issues in day time, but avoid driving at night because the turns are very sharp and dangerous and also you will be severely stuck there if your vehicle fails or punctures.... You are not going to get any help at the time of night because people also do not stop there.... Although your overall experience will be very good and also the Patalpaani Waterfalls are not very far from there, you must visit there also to utilise your whole day.... I visited there when I was going to Khargone from Dewas, it is greatly recommended to view the sunrise or sunset from the hill which will give you an auspicious experience and you will try to visit there every weekend.... Just follow some precautions and your trip will be very good, you should maintain the fuel in your car because you are not going to find any fuel station there and more problems come when you have a CNG vehicle.. overall experience was good, have a nice journey....

Jam Gate, also known as Jam Darwaza, is a historic gateway located approximately 50 kilometers from Indore on the Mhow-Mandleshwar Road. This architectural marvel stands as a testament to ahilyabai holkar's legacy. The structure is between 40 to 50 feet in height. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, making it a favored spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers. Visitors can buy the ticket worth 10/- to climb and enjoy the view. During my recent visit, I observed that while the area is popular for picnics and roadside snacks, it's imperative for visitors to dispose of their waste responsibly. Unfortunately, littering has become a concern, leading to environmental degradation and posing threats to local wildlife, especially animals that might ingest plastic waste. The vendors operating near Jam Gate often charge higher prices for their goods, capitalizing on the site's popularity. Given the area's proximity to Indore and the ease of transporting goods, such inflated pricing seems unwarranted. Visitors should be mindful of this.

I visited Jaam Gate in June, and it's truly a beautiful place near Indore. The ancient entrance gate between Malwa and Nimad offers an amazing and mesmerizing view. The roads leading to Jaam Gate are in excellent condition, making the journey safe and comfortable. As you drive towards the gate, the route offers a mesmerizing view, enhancing the overall experience of the trip. The combination of smooth roads and breathtaking scenery truly adds to the charm of visiting this historic site. The high-speed wind flow adds to the experience, so be prepared for it. To watch the gate from the upper side, you need to buy tickets. We visited at 5:30 in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy more peace. There are many shops near the gate where we had Maggie from a local stall for Rs. 50 per plate. Don't miss the under-constructed Parvati Mata temple located on the upper side of the mountain, accessible by walking or car. It's a serene place with a mix of history and nature!
