My husband and I did the horseback riding. Overall it was a fun experience but disorganized. However, we LOVED the guides and the horses. I am a wrangler at a trail riding barn in Memphis so the guides allowed me to take Boss for a spin when the ride was finished. It was really nice and so fun to have a little extra ride time. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were funny, informative, and knowledgeable about the horses. There were many first time riders on our ride and they felt safe and comfortable which is awesome.
There were a few things we weren’t aware of and didn’t love. There is a ton of waiting before and after riding. When you get the bus from your resort to Chukka you will be brought to a place with horses and picnic tables before boarding a bus to go to the spot where you will ride. DO NOT buy a locker here. Bring your bag with you on the bus. There are lockers where you can keep your backpack with sunscreen, towels, etc. at the place where you actually ride. No one told us this so we checked our bags and had no towel, sunscreen, cash, or water. Bring plenty cash for tips, drinks, food, etc. All riders will be weighed. If you do not meet the weight requirements you will NOT be able to ride. This is for the horses’ safety.
Once the ride finally begins, you will have two different horses for the two separate sections of the tour: the water and the land tour. We did the water tour first. It was really cool and really refreshing. I wore water shoes, a bathing suit, and shorts. My husband wore water shoes and swim trunks. It was perfect. The water ride is about 10 minutes. It’s two circles in the ocean. It was fun but we paid a lot and waited a lot for a short ride.
After waiting some more, they take you on the land ride. The guides were awesome. They were so fun and so nice. The ride itself is just a small circle around the road you drive in on. It is not really worth all of the time and money spent waiting around. In total you probably spend 35 minutes on horse back for $120 or so per person.
Overall, the guides and riding in the Caribbean made this excursion fun but we will not be spending money or time here again. There are a lot of other things in this area that will get you more bang for your buck. Big shout out to the guides for letting me have a little extra fun and for caring for the horses and...
Read moreThrough our cruise line we booked the Chukka Ziplining Canopy. Our guides were great, very informative about the island and culture during the hour long drive to the canopy. You will see beautiful country side and villages along the way. Once we arrived we were fitted with gear then sent on a 10-15 minute hike towards the start of the zipline. The hike itself is doable so long as you’re in decent shape. If you have problems at all with walking on uneven terrain this is NOT the tour for you. You will hike at an incline and decline through the jungle. It is absolutely beautiful and quite a wonder, I enjoyed it very much. During our hike several of the male guides began to make conversation and while most of it was polite, some of it not. Case in point, when myself and another woman were “barked” at by a couple of young guides who thought this was either flattering or funny. We found it to be neither and this is my only complaint regarding conduct.
Moving along, we began our adventure and the zip-lining in and of itself was fun. Due to this being a packed cruise excursion you do wait a while in between lines which does take a little bit of the thrill out of it, but what can you do. It took us around two hours to complete everything simply due to the volume of people in our group. At the end of zip-line you are then led back to base with a new guide who brings you along a beautiful hike through the jungle again. This lasts around 10-15 minutes and you will see different plant life and the terrain is mainly flat.
When booked through the cruise line this particular excursion included a small lunch which consisted of jerk chicken, rice and beans, salad and punch. You would do well to bring along some other snacks as it is a lot of physical activity and this lunch won't cut it for most.
All in all I am glad I tried an excursion like this. You will pinch yourself as you walk through the jungle and zip-line through it, once in a...
Read moreSigned up for this excursion while visiting Jamaica and we were very excited. To start our shuttle driver arrived 30 minutes late. When we got to the falls we had a good experience and really liked our tour guides here. Very friendly and interactive with the group. The only downfall with this part of the trip was the poor communication between guides and driver. We sat and waited with half the group while the other half of the group was on the bus waiting for us. When we got to the next part to atv it was bery unorganized because they did not know if they were ready to start with us or not so it was unnecessary standing around. Once we began to atv we had a great time and the tour guides were awesome. Cloff jumping was great. We did not enjoy the horseback riding portion of the 4 play tour we did. It was slow and not exciting. My horse was acting up and the tour guides of this group did not care so we were very displeased. Another downfall was they said lunch was provided. We left tbe resort at 8 am and were not provided lunch until 2pm. We were only given one option for lunch. Not a single stop during our play 4 day were we offered water. We enjoyed these excursions for the most part but would not do them again in the future. If standing around, waiting on an entire group, and being out for a 9 hour day is not for you i would not recommend these 4...
